Question about ASUS A7V8X Motherboard

Asus laptop 1005 suddenly restarts; just goes into a restart loop

On normal usage the Asus 1005 was working fine. On 2 nights I left it continuously powered on and the laptop was connected to the power supply throughout the night.

On both occasions the laptop started restarting automatically in the early morning. I ran a disk check on C: nd then booted up using the safe mode. After that it stabilized. This morning was the second instance. Should I return it ?

is there any issue with the battery being charged for too long ???

I believe that I've found the answer. Notsosure's link to the Toshiba thread really helped in figuring out the logic behind this mess.

What's happening is that certain capacitors on the motherboard that regulate the current of the CPU have started to fail. So whenever the CPU changes its clock speed or multiplier, the capacitors do not deliver the required voltage to it and the CPU malfunctions. This causes the system to reboot. Some users have fixed the issue by replacing the faulty capacitors (they are located directly behind the CPU socket on the motherboard).

Intel refers to this throttling technology as Speedstep. Windows Safe Mode seems to not use this CPU function which is why the system doesn't reboot in that mode. Disabling all the processors in Device Manager prevents normal Windows mode from using it as well. As long as the CPU doesn't use Speedstep, no spontaneous reboots will occur.

Hello, I have Asus f5z, video card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200. Original Windows Vista, automatic updates always On. And suddenly began go error, screen blinks, and shows "ati stopped responding...

This could either be a problem with the graphics driver, or a problem with the graphics card itself.

Try once more downloading the latest version of the driver from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx and installing it while your computer is running without the graphics driver turned on. Then try re-enabling the graphics driver to see if the updated driver solved the problem.

If updating the driver doesn't work, it's almost certainly a problem with the laptop's video card. If this is the case, you'll want to have it looked at by a professional, or contact Asus support directly to see if they can help you resolve the issue.

Hope this is helpful!

Try going into os options mode by pressing power button on and escape repeatedly until OS options of normal or emergency! repair mode select one of them. Sudden power shut down doesn't let the desktop save the restart information properly.

Intermittent problems are always the hardest to diagnose but I would start by going to the device manager and deleting the sound drivers. Then a reboot and as your machine restarts it will reinstall the soundcard drivers and if the game has corrupted the drivers that should your your problem. Should it continue you will need to find updated drivers for Windows 7.

My asus Eee 1005 wont boot up unless i go to safe mode with networking, how do i fix this so I can boot up normally without using safe mode?

If it is booting up in safe mode and not booting up normally then it could be a driver fault or some sort of spyware virus.
Try using system restore in safe mode to restore the laptop to a time when it was working fine.
goto start bar, click on run and type msconfig, in here you can choose anystart up programs or services you dont need or use and stop them from starting, make sure you are positive you are stoping programs that you know are on your mechine.
Dont restart yet goto my computer c:drive, goto the windows folder and find a folder called prefetch open this folder and delete all of it contents, once done close out of all windows and restart the pc in normal mode hopfully the problem will be solved.
hope this helps and please post back what happens.

  • Hi, this is "normal looping when choosing to restore to "Factory Settings," you have to be very patient, and unfortunately, if the process wasn't completed entirely, you may need to start from scatch; "lets hope this is not the case, restart the computer, and let it do what its suppose to do "finish the restoring to "factory settings, be patient," and follow all the instructions carefully. "Rating the solution is appreciated, thanks; I hope all go well!"

Press F8 when you turn on the computer and from the list of options select safe mode and boot into safe mode when you are on the desktop screen go to the device manager ( you can use this path : start-run-devmgmt.msc) in the device manager go to display adaptors right click it and uninstall it.
after that restart the computer.

if this doesnot work again boot to safe mode and try to do a system restore (start-all programs-accesories-accesibility-system tools-system restore)
select a date when your system was working fine, that should fix it.
