It is really easy to check this. Go to an electronics store and buy a cheap multimeter. It will cost you about $10 to $15. Set the multimeter to the ohms range and put the leads from the multimeter across what you want to read the resistance of. Done. If you are getting a voltage drop and are trying to find what the problem is, this may not be of much help however, as a high resistance may only show up when current is being drawn, as then resistance increases when faults get hot.

SOURCE: why doesn't my yamaha golf cart charge the battery?

that would be a problem with either the alternator, or voltage regulator. make sure alternator belt is not slipping, then check with voltage tester at the alternator for voltage. if that reads good, then replace regulator.

I need to know wires to to the key switch on my western golf cart

The battery wire goes to one side, the other goes to the starter (if gas) or the controller f/r switch (if electric). Any other wires that control 12 volt accessories that are "switched" will go to the same lug as the controller f/r switch. Wires that control accessories that can stay "hot" regardless of the key switch will usually go directly to the batteries. Be careful that you hook to the proper voltage on the batteries. They are wired in series, so two 6 volt batteries wired together will give you 12 volts...........any two batteries, as long as the cables connect them together. If you have 12 volt batteries and a 12 volt accessory (like a stereo or electric horn), you need only to wire across one battery.
