SOURCE: freezer not freezing
How old is the unit? Does it seem to have air circulating in freezer? Is the temp in the refrigerator side cold enough? One common thing is for the defrost heater to stop working which causes the freezer to ice up and stop circulating air. If you can put all items in a cooler and unplug the unit for several hours leaving the freezer door open. Plug it back in and see if it starts blowing frost again. That would indicate a bad defrost system. It can be several things but most common are the heating elements. If the defrost timer stops working you get the same results. If this does not produce positive results then it could be a weak compressor or gas leak. Best have a repairman check it or get a new one if it is the compressor.
SOURCE: freezer works but frig is not cooling
I don't know this particular frig, but evidently the defroster doesn't work. Frost buildup has blocked the flow of cold air.
There is a defrost timer, under the frig, accessible from the front.
You can turn it with a screw driver. Turn it till you hear a click.
If the timer hasn't been turning, that should turn on the defroster, a
heating element nested among the freezer coils. Wait half an hour and
if it is defrosting, water should be dripping into the drip pan
underneath the frig. If so, then replace the defrost timer and you're
good to go.
If that doesn't make it defrost, then the problem is probably the
defrost thermostat, in with the freezer coils. When the frig defrosts,
the defrost heater stays on until the defrost thermostat gets warm. It
should be open circuit while warm. But if it is open circuit while
cold, it is bad and is the cause of your defrost problem.
If you open up the freezer coils, use a hair dryer to defrost. That is safer than hot water.
Hope you can fix it.

remove back cover on evaporator inside frezeer if is full of ice all over then you have a defrost problem and you might have a faulty defrost timer or defrost thermostat repl both so you wont go wrong if the coils are clean and not frost is on coils then check compressor to see if its running just by touching you can find out if it si not running then you have a faulty relay or overload repl and compressor should start.if there is only partial frost then you have a leak or restriction depending when you bought it most refrigerators have a maufactures warranty on compressor for about 5 years call for service on the number on the sticker inside refirgerator

Inside the fresh food compartment look for an opening that will allow you to turn the defrost timer clockwise slowly. When you hear it click the refrigerator should go into defrost. If the timer is bad it will need replaced. Let me know. Below is a photo of timer.

I you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Replace the cold control, order it by model number of the fridge... common whirlpool one that goes out is the 2198202
