Question about Kenmore Dishwashers
It makes loud almost grinding noise in the wash cycyle. I read the other posts for similar noises for other models, and was looking at my dishwasher to see about the tie wrap idea. The questions I was having was if it would work for a Kenmore and not just GE models? The other question is tying the tube to the basket does that mean you can't move the upper basket, or am I thinking of tying it to a different part?

SOURCE: noisy motor
It could very well be the wash pump motor starting to fail. It could also be something as simple as food and debris clogging the intake to the pump. The main wash pump is used to circulate water during the wash cycle. If the intake to this pump is clogged with debris, it can exhibit louder than usual noise during operation and lower water pressure. This particular model also has a chopper assembly just prior to the pump intake. This chopper can dice up some food particles, but cannot process things like popcorn kernels, tough pieces of meat, celery, etc. Basically, anything hard, fibrous, or tough. If you go to searspartsdirect.com, theres an illustration of the pump assembly under the "Pump and Motor Parts" heading. The chopper is item(s) number 6 & 8. If anything gets caught in the chopper it will not provide enough water flow for the main wash pump. Double check the pump sump reservoir and make sure it is all clean. If it still exhibits the same symptoms, the motor may be damaged. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Take the lower kick plate off four 1/4 screws. The noise is coming from the motor itself. This is a very common issue on these units. The motor is held into the bottom with two 5/16 hose clamps.
Once the clamps are off the motor will fall down and slide forward. Simply slide the new motor into position and push up lock the two clamps and your done. The two wire connection on the front of the motor would also need to be removed and hooked back up.
Good luck with your repair friend
