Question about Apple iPhone Smartphone
Make sure you are running iTunes 8.2. Download the 3.0 ipsw (iphone1,1_3.0_7A341_restore). Connect the phone to iTunes and wait for it to detect. Put the phone into DFU mode (hold the power and home buttons for about 10 seconds, until the phone turns off. After the phone turns off, continue holding the power and home buttons for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, release the power button but continue to hold the home button.) It should take about 10-15 seconds and iTunes will detect the iphone in DFU recovery mode. If the apple logo appears on the iphone or if the screen lights up at all, repeat the process. There should be nothing on the iPhone at all, like its turned off. Once the iPhone is connected to iTunes and is in DFU mode, hold SHIFT on your PC and click restore (Windows). Select the ipsw file you downloaded for restore. Once the iPhone finishes restoring and updating to the 3.0 firmware, jailbreak using redsn0w. After jailbreak, use ultrasn0w through Cydia to unlock. There are plenty of instruction sites for getting and using redsn0w if you don't have it already. I like iclarified.com, but you can probably choose from many.
