My Cd drive not see in my computer & Cd Icon is not show in my Computer pls help me out for this problem urgently

Hi,

You might have disabled the CD/DVD ROM in your Device Manager or in your BIOS.

In Device Manager:

1) Right click My Computer and choose Manage.
2) A window will appear. Go to Device Manager.
3) On the right side of the window, find CD/DVD and right click on it and choose enable.
4) Check if your CD/DVD drive is present already.

If you cannot find it still, try the BIOS:

1) Restart your laptop and go to your BIOS set-up
2) Look for CD/DVD drive and enable it.
3) Restart your laptop.

Hope it helps.

Thanks!

My computer no longer "sees"

hello
at end of this instruction set, see link to review more questions/answers,as your issue with CD/DVD ROM will vary .

This document applies to HP and Compaq desktop computers with Windows XP, Me, and 98. Use this document to make Windows and the CD writing software recognize the CD or DVD writer drive. Start at Step 1; do not skip to other sections until Step 1 has been completed. Step 1: Does Windows detect the CD or DVD drive? Use Device Manager to determine if Windows is recognizing the drive:
  1. In Windows XP, click Start , and right-click My Computer . In Windows 98 and Me, right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
  2. In Windows XP, select Properties , click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. In Windows 98 and Me, select Properties , and click the Device Manager tab.
  3. Click the plus sign (+ ) next to DVD/CD-ROM Drives (or similar) category.
  4. Do the following depending on what is listed in the DVD/CD-ROM drives category:
    • If the CD or DVD drive name is missing , the drive is not being detected by Windows. Close Device Manager and skip to the section CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows .
    • If a drive name is shown but is disabled (icon is marked with a red X, c00877300.gif ), the drive has been disabled. Right-click the drive name and select Enable . You may have to restart the computer to complete the enabling process. The drive should work correctly once it has been enabled. NOTE: If the drive cannot be enabled, a required service or driver that the drive needs is not functioning or has been disabled. Click the plus sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and troubleshoot any problems found according to any error codes in Device Manager. Resetting the BIOS may also resolve this problem.
    • If a drive name is shown but contains an alert icon (an icon marked with an alert symbol, c00877301.gif ), then use the section Using Device Manager error codes to troubleshoot the problem. You may also use the next section Disc burning software does not recognize the original drive to reset the drive configuration.
    • If the CD or DVD drive is listed as normal but your disc burning software does not recognize the drive, Device Manager shows no special icons c00877302.gif . Windows is detecting the drive but the writing software does not. Leave Device Manager open and continue with the next section Disc burning software does not recognize the original drive .

I hit buttom on the side do not open or do I go in to the menu to open.

I understand that the CD/DVD Drive is not ejecting. Are you able to view the CD/DVD Drive icon in the My Computer window? Also check if the CD/DVD Drive is listed in the Device Manager. You can uninstall the CD/DVD Drive driver from Device Manager and restart the Computer and then try ejecting it.

My wife was trying to remove unwanted programs. Now the DVD player does not work. In the my computer icon, the DVD icon is not there. What can be done to repair this?

That icon is present whenever the _hardware_ is connected to your computer. So, removing "software" should _NOT_ have removed that icon.

Right-mouse-click on My Computer.]
Click Properties.
Click Hardware.
Click Device Manager.
Expand the 'DVD/CD-ROM' branch of the tree.
Your DVD-drive should be listed.
If not, shutdown your computer, and open the case.
Check that the "power" and "data" cables from the computer to the DVD--drive are connected.
If they are, it's possible that the drive itself has "failed", independent of the "clicking" done by your spouse.

WD 5GB nternal EIDE drive is detected by BIOS but not by Win XP.

New drives are not usually formatted, so the drive will not show up in the drive list when My Computer is opened. As this may be the case, the drive will need to be initialize and formatted.

To do this make sure you have administrative rights and locate your My Computer icon which is located in the Start menu or on the desktop. Right click on the My Computer icon then select "Manage" and click on it.

You will be presented with the Computer Management console. Locate and click on "Disk Management" under the Storage part of the management tree.

Many times when this is opened, the system will present you with a wizard to initialize and format the drive. If this is the case then follow the wizard to complete the task.

If this did not happen, look at the list of drives in the list. If the computer recognizes the drive it will appear without at drive letter next to it. If this is the case a right click on the drive with out a letter will allow you to initialize and format the drive.

If the drive does not appear here, then over to the far left in the Computer Management console, find and click on "Device Manager"

Once the device manager is open a tree with all the recognized devices will be displayed. Click on the + sign next to Disk Drives. If the drive is not listed here then the computer does not see it.

If this is the case highlight and click the computer at the top of the Device manager that has the name of your computer. Now right click the computer icon and select the only option witch is "Scan for Change". The computer will look for devices for a moment or two. When complete see if the drive is now listed under Disk Drives in the device tree. If so follow the steps above to initlize the drive and format it in the Disk Management part of the console.

If the drive did not show up, shut the machine down and check the connections to the disk drive.

Also make sure the drive is properly jumped. Most Western Digital Drives have a jumper diagram printed on the label. Set the drive up for single drive or cable select.

After restarting the machine, enter into the BIOS to make sure the machine is in fact seeing the drive. On a Dell Dimension this can be done on restart by pushing the F2 key. This must be done quickly right after start up.

Once in the BIOS use the arrow keys to navigate. Locate the section for hard drives and verify the machine is in fact seeing it. It may be that the secondary IDE channel has been disabled. Make sure it is enabled. Also make sure the drive detection is set to auto if the option is available. Once complete make sure to save changes to the BIOS. When complete the system will be restarted. Allow the system to boot Windows. It may recognize the device now and prompt with the wizard.

If not use the steps above to check the Disk Management under the Computer Management console to see if it is there.

If the drive is still not there try testing it in a different machine or seek professional services to rectify the issue.

No CD /DVD Drive Icon

I checked the specifications on the Acer 9410Z, and verified that it ships with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.

This is actually a very common problem in Windows Vista and tends to occur for a few different reasons. One notable issue is anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that perform a system scan and remove any instances of viruses and/or malware.

Without going into too much detail there is quick fix available from Microsoft at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Scroll down to "Fix it for me", and just click "Fix." This will run a quick installation, and then ask you to restart your computer. If it doesn't ask you, then restart it manually.

Your CD/DVD drive should now show up in My Computer, and should be recognized by all programs.

Hope this helps!

DVD ROM not responding. The icon is also not shown in 'My Computer'

If you cannot eject the tray that means the power to your DVD ROM is not connected, You need to open the computer panel to the side and inspect the connections, make sure they are tightly connected. Be sure to power off your PC and unplug it from min power source before you do this.
