SOURCE: waffle iron top not heating

I don't know for your model type, but in many of these the heating element can be replaced. Check with an ohm meter to know if the element is actually defective, or if it is the thermo safety cutoff fuse that is blown.

If you were to do this yourself, and you know about appliance servicing, have instruments to check for proper temperature and current draw, and you will need the proper crimp-fittings (stake-ons), and crimp tool to do any of the wiring inside.

SOURCE: Turns on but doesn't Cook

It sounds like this is a common poblem but I found what it is. I am a mechanical engineer and fix anything and everything. I had the same thing with my Villeware model 2010. I took it apart and traced with a meter to find the problem. I found the wires to the heating elements in the bottom half melted and shorted where they cross (bad design) just past an inline fuse ( good part of the design!). I can't find any place that carries parts and contacted Villaware direct but do not expect any luck in getting a new wire harness. The fix is either the proper harness or the correct fuse and high temp wire and correct crip connectors. Bypassing the fuse or using incorrect wire would be dangerous, would destroy the control board if another short would occur or possibly lethal from shock or fire.

SOURCE: The waffle maker just stopped being hot. Red

I see this is an old post but I was just looking for parts for mine and saw it. It seems like many have this problem. I think it is a design flaw. I took mine apart and founf the wires at the top heating element melted and shorted. Luckily there is an in line fuse that protected everything. the problem is finding replacement parts. I have just contacted the company about parts. Only the proper parts should be used to fix this. rigging something would be dangerous or worse.

Why is my Mickey Mouse Waffle Maker 5555-02 cooking hotter than normal?

The top of your waffle maker has an indicator on the top that shows when the heating coils are on. It should go out when the iron reaches the correct temperature. If it does not go out it may mean that the contacts are stuck and that it is dangerous.

I lost the instructions for my sunbeam waffle maker, and I dont know how long Ihave to bake it.

Here is a direct link to the User's Manual for your appliance:

http://dl.owneriq.net/d/db0acd4e-57c1-43f0-a51b-4ef04ad30e2d.pdf

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 2 of the manual for detailed operating instructions. Basically they read as follows:

Preparing Waffles

1. Close Waffle Maker and plug into outlet. Use only voltage specified on bottom of Waffle Maker. The Power light (Red) and Ready light (Green) will come on.
Caution: Touch Waffle Maker only by handles during use or directly after use. Take care not to touch hot surfaces.

2. The Waffle Maker is ready for initial use when the Ready (green) light goes out (approximately 2-4 minutes).

3. Open Waffle Maker, pour approximately 3/4 cup waffle batter onto grids. For best results, pour batter around outer edge of waffle maker. Close cover. It is very typical to have a small amount of batter run over grid and down Waffle Maker. However, if an excessive amount of batter runs over, use less batter.

4. Close the Waffle Maker by lowering the upper plate onto the lower plate and secure with the safety latch. Do not open cover while steam is escaping. Most waffles bake in approximately 2-4 minutes, depending on personal taste. Waffles are generally done when the Ready light (green) goes out and when steam no longer escapes from sides and front of Waffle Maker.

5. When waffles are done, remove with a fork or wooden tongs. Note: Be careful you do not scratch the non-stick cooking surface.

6. Close cover and wait for Ready light to go out before preparing another batch of waffles. The next waffle may be baked in less time because the plate will store heat.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

Is there a way to turn the sound off? When we plug it in the high pitched sound makes our dog shake and squeal. If we can turn this off we'll have to get rid of it (the waffler not the dog!)

I struggle with the same thing, it's like an apocalypse alarm for my poor dog. I have covered with duct tape which muffles, but does not come close to silencing this culinary menace. May delve further and take the waffle maker apart to find the alarm source. It's a great waffle maker otherwise, we just don't enjoy them as much due to the noise and affect on the dog.

Controls not accurate on uno waffle iron

Thats why they give you the control knobs so you can set it for the best performance. A waffle will change heat requirements depending on ingredients in the waffles and the altitude you live in and the amount of humidity in the air.
