To be honest you would probably come out cheaper buying a new monitor

Monitor takes anywhere from 15 minutes to more than an hour to produce a display after starting the PC. It starts by flashing briefly on the screen, and eventually produces a display. It works fine after...

Sounds like you have an LCD inverter going out there might be some leaky compasitors on the main board. Its probably cheaper to buy a new one then to have a repair center fix it. Unless you know someone who is good with a sodering iron.

Best of luck and have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Blinking blue power light and greenish tint....

Is the monitor still under warranty? (probably only the first 12 months)

Try connecting the monitor to a different desktop/notebook computer, to see if it is fine.
If it is, you have a problem with the video-card in your computer, not a problem with your monitor.

There are "capacitors" inside the monitor, that serve to supply "smooth" and "ripple-free" power to the electronic circuits. If you have "bad" capacitors, they are not doing what they should be doing, which causes the electronics to malfunction.

So, if your monitor is a CRT monitor, it's time to responsibly recycle it, and buy a new one.

If your monitor is an LCD monitor, take it to any TV/video repair shop, and pay them $25 to $50 to "inspect" it, looking for "bad caps". Or, spend that $25 to $50 to buy a new LCD monitor.

Monitor works in dos starup, but fails in Vista startup mode.

Sounds like windows resolution or refresh rate is too high for the 15" monitor. Try starting in safe mode and setting the resolution below 1024 X 768 and refresh at 60. Restart.

Same thing is happening with my emchine as well. Mine is a T6412 series machine. I boought this machine a year and a half ago. Suddenly one morning the monitor started flickering. At first I thought may be some problem with the cables. I tried with different cables. Same problem. then I thought maybe my monitor has gone bad. So I went and bought a new Samsung monitor. Even with this new monitor the problem remained. So, I am assumng now that the problem is with my computer and not the monitor. Can someone please help. I do not usually come to this site. Can you please email me your solutions and help directly to Thank you so much for your help.

Weird blink problem...

That's definitely a hardware (incompatiblity) problem. Download the most updated driver for the graphics card. Also see if there is a monitor driver for the monitor.

I understand it worked seamlessly for the emachine but you should switch it back for a day or two to rule out the monitor just screwing up.

Emachine monitor flickers with horizontal lines

If you have another computer handy....hook the monitor up to it to see if the problem remains, if it does not you might want to focus on the video card.
