Question about RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000 Smartphone

Try to backup my blackberry using desktop manager but will not and says backup data failed. i have done this several times but this time it won't and am trying to upgrade os so now i can't because i would loose everything.

Try to take backup,while taking the backup you will find when the backup stops backing the files,delete that particular database and then backup the data.Upgrade the OS and perform the hard reboot.Steps to perform how to clear the corrupted database. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Click Backup and Restore. Click Advanced.
Select the database that failed (for example, the Calendar database).
Click Clear. In the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Main Menu and click Synchronize. Click Synchronize Now to perform a synchronization.

I'm sorry to say, that it has suffered an unrecoverable crash. All data is lost unless you had a backup on your computer. Typically the device is garbage but you can try to reformat the device using Blackberry Desktop Manager available at www.blackberry.com but it still fails 90% of the time.

    To over come this error you need to complete the following steps:
    First, perform a full backup of the BlackBerry device data:
    1. Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer using the USB cable.
    2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, and then double-click Backup and Restore.
    3. Click Backup.
    4. Save the backup file.
    Run the application loader tool and erase all data on the BlackBerry device:
