Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator
I am no expert at this but have a few thoughts:
1. sometimes a refrigerator (or airconditioner, etc) can freeze up due to LOW Refrigerant. even the "wrong" part can freeze.
2. most refrigerators have a defrost cycle in which they pass warm air through the freezer compartment to evaporate frost. These work on a timer. If the timer motor is broken they will not remove frost and could result in a freeze-up.
Many freezers (e.g. chest, etc) do NOT as they are meant to NOT be opened as often as a refrigerator and thus do NOT go through this energy-wasting defrost cycle.
3. you may have a leak in the gasket allowing moist room air to enter causing excess moisture which then condenses on the freezer coil, although (2) might help that, but at a significant waste of energy.
4. I believe a fan may be used to bring some of the cooling from the freezer to the refrigerator (if it is a combination)
All three of these conditions result in wasted energy, and obviouslyl should be solved.
All but (1) may be things you can check on yourself. (1) I have heard of "hobbyist/engineers" doing themselves, but requires a means to get at the "freon" valve, have a meter, be able to replace / augment it with the right kind, etc - best left to a professional.

More than likely your defroster has gone out if the coils you are refering to are in the area between the top of the fridge and bottom of freezer In this space the control for temp is located along with cooling evaporator fan. If this is the case take the model and serial numbers to your appliance parts store for replacement defroster it is easy to install. If the freezing up is on the outside of the fridge near the compressor there is a blockage of airflow over the coils on the fridge (condensor) which would need to be cleaned and the freon also would need to be checked Good Luck

Tips for a great answer:
Nov 05, 2012 | Estate TT18TKXKQ Top Freezer Refrigerator
Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool,
then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling,
then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not
