Washer stopped spinning

Did I overload? it's summertime in CAli and the towels are going through the washer by the minute. I think I overloaded the washer with towels... anyways, the water filled the tank and when it was time to agitate nothing happened. It's been over ten hours and still - silence. Please help.

Belt has broken that operates the agitation on these machines and too much overloading was the culprit.. take the model and serial number to an appliance parts store and they will give the right part to you. Take the back plate off the washer and you will see where the belt fit around the pully on the motor and the drum of the washer Good Luck

My washer stop spinning. I think it was overloaded; but I removed most of the clothes but it still does not spin. I unplugged it and replugged it; nothing happened. I centered the basket; nothing happened

You need to check the power from the controller to the motor, if there is no power then the controller drive has failed due to overload current driving the motor .
If there is power then the motor is a suspect.

Washer is not spinning fast - so the clothes are more wet when done

sounds like washer is load sensing either overloaded or unbalanced when it decides to low spin insteasd of high spin dose it stop for second rotate 3 times and change direction 3 times the just spin slow.... if so either u have misloaded the machine by overloading orthe clothes are unbalanced in load may need add a towel or something to balance the weight evenly in the tub

I overloaded washer with towels and it stopped spinning i thought it may have burned out a belt but i dont think it has a belt

There is what is called the coupler. Does it drain still? Also might have gotten a towel stuck between the tubs. That can easily happen when overloading. Did you smeel a bad smell when you noticed it not working? If you did more than likely towel stuck between the tubs.

I just put in a large load of towels and it filled with water but stopped spinning and now it won't spin period

Sounds like the "Overload" has been "Tripped"? What does your manual say to do when that happens?, I think you have to lighten the load and reset/restart?

Washer won't spin

Try a different spin cycle on another setting if it still doest work try removeing the clothes and changing it to a normal wash cycle. If no try unplugging it for a minute or 2 and then back in hopefully it resets and if still no movement on the unit at all you may have overloaded it causing the motor to wear prematuraly and burn up. This is very common with overloading.

Kitchen aide front loader washing machine won't finish cycle

On ours, i think that those codes were overload codes.. i had to go downstairs and turn the circuit breaker right off for about 5mins - when i clicked it back on, the washer reset.. i took some of the extra wet towels out and ran another wash with no issues..

good luck

Ok, that's a different scenario. Generally, when a washer is agitating and develops an overload that stalls or overheats the motor, the problem could be caused by:
1. Too many clothes for the amount of water level selected. If clothes don't have enough water to circulate in properly, it can put excess pressure on the agitator which transfers to the gearcase, drive belt, and finally the motor. The motor is thermally protected and stops running until it cools down, then it will try to restart. In the process the drive belt could burn slightly to completely,so you may want to inspect the drive belt for burned areas.
2. Transmission malfunction, where something inside the transmission breaks due to an overload and jams a gear. End results can be the same as above.
I suspect a clothes overload may have caused the problem and once the overload is alleviated, the washer should operate normlly if the belt didn't burn,

Washer won't run....

It seems as an overload issue. The machine has an overload switch to protect the motor. Take the comforter out and operate the machine,it should work fine. Good luck!
