If it's the external switch that's broken then you'll likely have to disassemble your laptop to flick on the internal switch. If the internal switch is the broken one, then you'll still have to take apart your laptop and replace the broken one. You can probably order a new switch from Acer or you can check ebay to see if anyone is selling a Bluetooth switch for your model of computer. Be sure that you know what you're doing if you're going to do the repair yourself - there are alot of little parts and screws that you are going to have to remember how to put back in their proper place in the end. Another solution to your problem would be to buy a USB Bluetooth adapter. That way you don't have to pay alot to have your Bluetooth repaired.
If your particular model of HP has the bluetooth installed from the factory, turning on the wireless switch on the front left edge of the laptop enables the bluetooth, as well as the wireless LAN. A bluetooth icon should appear in your taskbar, near the clock, when bluetooth is turned on. Most of the cheaper versions of the DV6000 series do not come with the bluetooth module installed. The module can be ordered from HP Parts and installed by the end user, if they have a little computer know how. You would then download and install the bluetooth software pack that is available on HP's support website.
Hope this will help to resolve your issue with Bluethooth..
Which model laptop is this? Many of the Gateway laptops have 2 switches for the Bluetooth. There is a physical switch on the front or side of the system that needs to be turned on for both the wireless LAN and the Bluetooth to work. The physical switch needs to be in the ON position, then you can use the FN-F6 to toggle the bluetooth specifically on and off. Depending on the model there will be another toggle, possible FN-F2 to toggle the wireless Lan on and off once the switch is turned on.
i am using lenovo 3000 g430, and i am fall in problem about bluetooth, i am already install xp and vista, but when i install the bluetooth driver one warning message show me "bluetooth device not detected" my bluetooth device switch is on but indicator led light still off, please help me , how can i use bluetooth in this laptop.
Actually Acer use the same laptop case for some of their models, so the acer 4420 doesn´t have built-in bluetooth, you won´t find any driver for the bluetooth cause that reason. I have an extensa 4420-5910, have a bluetooth switch in the case but no bluetooth, if you check at Acer´s web page it say thet some models doesn´t have built-in bluetooth but the switch is in the laptop case... On the other hand, if you install an external bluetooth device, the case switch will be usefull to turn it on and off.
This laptop does not ship with a bluetooth device. The button is available on the casing because Acer do not have separate casings for laptops without Bluetooth. Also, an opton for adding a bluettooth chip is available with Acer at a cost though.
I believe that you can turn these functions on and off via the Network Connections that you can access from the control panel.
In Windows XP: Click on START button Select Control Panel Click on Network Connections
In Windows Vista: Click on START button Select Control Panel Select Network and Internet Select Network and Sharing Center In left panel, select Manage Network Connections
Once here, you should see your wireless adapter and your bluetooth adapter. If you Right-Click on either connection, a menu will pop up and you can choose to Enable or Disable the connection without the button on the front of your computer.
Assuming your machine has bluetooth installed, and the driver is installed, you also cannot have "fast user switching" on and use bluetooth.
As for turning bluetooth on, there is a button, usually on the lcd bezel, I'm not sure on this model, which has to manually be turned on.
Hope this helps.
