Have an older Vulcan oven with double doors. The spring clip that holds the door shut has broken off. The spring loaded ball is okay just need the plate that fits on the door. This unit is probably 20 yhs old.

Found parts for vulcan ovens at a appliance store called Y.E.S. ( year end supply) out of New Mexico if I remember correctly. It has been about 12 years since I have had the pleasure of working on an older vulcan oven. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Hi, We have a Westinghouse electric wall oven with a door which appears to have a broken spring inside. We have previously been able to set it back in gap for hinge but now it has given up holding...

You should be able to buy new springs or the hinge complete from most appliance parts outlets. On some Westinghouse, the door will slide straight off the hinges but on others, you have to strip the door to get at them. Try opening the door and see if the door slides up and away from the oven. If it does, its pretty easy to change the hinge, if not, there will be a little clip on each hinge which locks the arm in place. Slide the clip on both hinges to the front and then you can lift the door up and out of the oven. remove the screws holding the door together and then you will see the 2 screws which hold the hinges in. Order a left (or right) hand side whatever one you need, but I would suggest that they are replaced as a pair, otherwise the door may not close evenly.

I am getting a E1 F5 error on the oven - what is the cause?

E1 F5 error is indicate that door latch is not working

This may display if the door is not shut properly, if it is jammed or if the spring-loaded mechanism has broken. Make sure door is completely closed and switch is closed. Test latch, solenoid and actuation switch (require an ohm meter to test).

Considerations: Try opening the oven door and shutting it while putting pressure on the center of the switch until you hear a click. Jiggle the latch to try and reposition it so that it shuts properly. Examine the latch to make sure it is properly attached.

Prevention/Solution: If none of those methods remove the error, you may need to replace the door latch. Visit the Whirlpool customer service website to find the correct part you need.

Hope this helps.

We have a 30 in prostyle electric double wall oven - the oven takes forever to preheat and the doors do not seal tightly when they are closed.

Hello- Many ovens use spring-loaded hinges to carry the weight of the door. Over time, these springs weaken or the hinge gets bent just enough to not fully close door. The door gasket can also become flat and stiff, compounding problem. Any small gap releases heated air, and oven will not heat up properly. Replacing the door springs should solve problem.- Thanks -Ed

Can't get the oven door back on. it was sitting

As you said they are spring loaded so be careful. You will need to pull on the hinge, which takes some muscle and you should see a small hole to put a pin or small screwdriver in to hold the hinge out. When this is in place on both the hinges you can put the door back on. This is the most common hinge style on Wpl or there may be tabs on the tops of the hinges to hold the hinge out. If the door still does not close all the way after getting the hinges all the way on you will need to take the door apart and replace the hinge/spring assy. Thanks for rating me after you read this.

Doors don't shut all the way and light stays on

It sounds like your door hinges are worn, usually on older ovens due to weight of door. Most oven doors can be removed by simply raising the tabs/ fitting small screwdriver on both hinges(refer to user manual) etc. Once door is removed you can place a medium size screwdriver or similar in the hinge slot, pushing the hinge plate on the bottom in an outward direction, thereby bending this plate(very slightly) forward. This will make the door close fully, activating the door switch, and turning off the oven light. This is only a short term solution, as this hot air escaping can lead to further problems. Hinge pair will need replacing. Door hinges are spring loaded ALWAYS KEEP FINGERS AND HANDS CLEAR OF LOADED HINGES.

Oven door closure

I had the same problem, the door will come off by opening it partially and lifting it up off the hinge brackets. Be careful, because the brackets are spring loaded and will snap shut when the door is removed. You will find a hinge pin with a spring clip at the bottom of the hinge. It's likely that the spring clip has come off of one of the hinges and the pin fell out. You can find the drawings and part number(s) on the "partsdirect" website using your model number, and even order them there.
