Question about Nikon D90 Body Only Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have a Nikon D90 with a new Extreme III memory card. I can out in bright sun and often it won't click even though it has focused. It gives me a flashing F--- saying that I don't have a lense attached but I have a Tamron 18-270 on. It also gives me a r17 or21 reading in the ISO/ picture count box. If I turn the camera off, take out the battery, or zoom in and out then sometimes it will take one picture and then stall again. I am loosing some great shots. Help.

Memory Card Indicator always blinks

Since a couple of months, my "out of warranty" D90 is having a problem.

Even after shutting down the unit , sometimes (post of the time) the green led is blinking (at random speed) untill the battery is 100% down (after half a day).
Switching memory card , or formatting memory card does not help.
Even without lens , problem occurs.
I tried also a other battery pack , same problem...

Anyone has an possible reason why this happens , or a 100% working solution.

PS: D90, battery packs and charger are 100% genuine NIKON.
Regards, Rik

Message - E - nikon d90. How to fix it?

This indicates the lack of a memory card, or else the installed card is faulty. Remove the memory card (if present), put in a new one, and format it.

Hi there Aug 2010 I purchased a D90 - recently the transfer program has stopped working as it does not recognise any photos for transfer even though I can see them and transfer using other windows...

I've been studying the problem for several minutes and actually downloaded the manual from the Nikon site to confirm a suspicion. With the camera software denying the transfer yet other "Windows" application are makes me believe that there is or are corrupt files on the memory card.
The Nikon D90 is a "Semi-Pro" type camera and feature packed, however if you have been deleting files and not formatting then the memory card has become saturated with empty files (deleted) what needs to be done each time you down load is format the memory card. Formatting cleans off all the old empty files, restores the memory card to a fresh medium and allows the camera and cart to communicate between each other efficiently. Also one other thing that might have happened is that the protect lock has been engaged. The camera SD card has a lock protection switch on the left upper side (with the letter facing up) this little switch need to be pushed to the top edge towards the gold contacts. I'll supply a diagram, there is also another thing is this a new memory card? if so did you format the card to the camera before you used it? Also your camera has some SD card memory capacity restrictions these are shown on page 242 of your manual.

Format the memory card. Press and hold the two [FORMAT] buttons until "For" blinks on the top display. Release the two buttons and then press the same two buttons again.

Blinking green led even D90 is off

I couldn't find a reference to a blinking green led when the d90 is off.

I would refer you to Nikon tech support for this one.

The above link has 1-800 numbers for Nikon.

Problems shooting with Nikon D90

The r in the display is not an error. The number after the r simply tells you how many more shots the buffer can hold before it fills up.

If you're set for AF-S, the shutter will not release until focus is achieved. You can switch to AF-C or else focus manually.

New Nikon D90 goes into ERR after several shots. only correction is to remove the battery and replace then it resets. I have sandisk extreme III 4 gb memory so speed is not the issue. any thoughts on this?

If the camera is fairly new, the lens is more likely the problem. Try another lens. If the same happens, it's probably a shutter problem.
