Thank you for your attempt at helping but, I am sorry... I went to the link you offered but I didn't see how that applied to my problem... by the way, I have windows vista (son't know if this helps). Could you give me simple steps to follow? Basically all I want to do is GET the documents that are stored on the flash card, but I cannot do it, it seems, without formatting the disk, which would delete the files, so you see my dilemma...! Thanks again, though

Well, I already swam through these waters with another person. After a couple of days, it seemed that this was the best solution to the problem.
If it doesn't work, which I am fervently hoping it will, just post a comment and we'll see what other options we can take.
Hope this works for you.

    Sorry about that!
Here's the instructions on what to do, step by step.
Make sure the Flash is inserted, then follow the steps below.

    1.
Right-click My Computer, and then click
    Manage.

    2.
    Under Computer Management (Local), click
    Disk Management.

    3.
In the list of drives in the right pane, right-click the
new drive and then click Change Drive Letter and
    Path(s).

    4.
Click Change, and in the drop-down box,
select a drive letter for the new drive that is not assigned to a mapped
    network drive.

    5.
    Click OK, and then click
    OK again.
I have Windows 7, not that much different from Vista, so the instructions were tried by me first. It works.

This type of problem on this OS is new to me, I'll have to refer this to someone who has dealt with this on Vista.
I don't wish to give you wrong advice and permanently delete the data on your flash drive, or worse.
    Hang in there, Maria!

Hi i loackd my memory card few mnths ago and nw i forgot the password i tried diffrnt paswrds but its stil locked,,,n it gvs option of formating it but i dont want to loose my images vdos n muzik...kindly...

Memory card in a locked condition, the data can be saved. There are two ways you can do:
1. Use the data recovery software (must be software full version). How: insert memory card, run the data recovery process, select the drive memory card, etc. Save the file to your hard drive recovery. After the data saved, memory card format (quick format), then restore the data into the memory card.

2. Quick format memory card, and do the data recovery process. So that data can be saved, do not do a full format, but do a quick format. Tools such as hard drives, flash drives, memory cards, when done quick format, data can be saved.

My sandisk memory card of 4gb shows 0 bytes how do i format

Sometimes when a flashmemory stick or USB external hard drive fails because it was not removed fromthe USB port properly. If the device is removed byjust pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, youmust click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select thedevice you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so When the flash memoryUSB hard drive device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restoreit by reformatting it. Insert the flash or USB hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - AdministrativeTools - Computer Management - Disk Management. Then right click on Disk 1removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted itwill indicate that it is Healthy.

My sandisk 1 gb microsd is locked somehow and i have forgotten the password.i want to unlock it.there is some important data in it............please help

Hey bro, im sorry to inform you that there is no way to recover your memory card without losing your data. But if you are fine with losing your data, then try this out.
Put your microSD in a nokia E-Series phone. I'll suggest the E-65. Now, go to the memory card in the TOOLS folder and select options, and choose FORMAT MEMORY CARD. It will ask you for your confirmation, press yes if you want to, and it will format your card and remove the password. I hope this works for you. Cheers ! I've tried it out. It does not ask you to put in the old password before formatting. It worked for me !

Formatting will erase all data on this disk. to

Hi there

#1
Insert your ( memory card , flash disk , cellphone , .... ) into your computer.
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

How can open my pendrive without format

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -
