I assume this is the very popular 18-inch High Velocity sold at Wal-Mart. If you cannot return it to your local store contact Aloha Housewares at: 1-800-295-4448. Good Luck!

So many fans, so few people to tell you the exact procedure on your fan model. Your unlikely to find an oil port. Grime from dust and lubricant generally ruin all fans in time and in different ways. Belt driven fans last longer. Fan company's will not recommend fixing yourself because it could be a fire hazard that they sign off on.

Just understand that the points of friction when your motor rotates have gotten too dirty/grimey/lost lubrication. Bold people keep this in mind and begin to disassemble and clean/lube. Most fans are in danger of tripping a hard to replace, buried thermal fuse. When you hear your fan struggling, understand that you may loose it for good if you trip this fuse.

What your hearing is your fan saying, "HELP ME!!!HELP ME!!!"

If the blade on your Lake Breeze fan is held on with an allen screw, it's probably loose. I bought one at a thrift store lately and it had this problem.

Here is customer service for Lakewood

Sometimes a replacement motor is more expensive than a whole new fan. I know, it seems a shame to throw out a whole fan because a motor is more expensive.

Clean out any and all dust in the fan as that is the start of the "stick" and then get some electric parts cleaner from a local supply store. Beyond cleaning solutions the problem may lie within the motor itself (brushes, stator, etc.)

It isn't worth fixing. I am on my second one which didn't last any longer than the first which was about 3-4 months. These fan motors are junk. First failure was a bearing and when it started failing, it was noisy. Eventually, the fan would not start because the motor didn't have enough torque to overcome the friction in the bad bearing.

The second fan was quiet but has NO starting torque....no unusual for fans generally, but I'll NEVER BUY another ALOHA BREEZE product again.

mcdevito75 here, If the fan is not too old I would figure yes, but a replacement motor will cost as a new fan, if not more, then you have to install and the blades are a presss fit to the motor.

Your fan speed control module is probably shorted and is damaged. Have it repaired by an electrician.
