You should not be able to get a virus on an iPad tablet by if you do, I would hard reset it or erase the whole iPad without backing it up. Then I would reinstall everything manually. If you back it up and restore it from backup, the virus will still be in your iPad.

This is a very common thing to have a website tell you that there is a virus and you need to use there software to get rid of it. In its simplest form that in itself is a virus. I would recommend installing an anti virus software that included a firewall, antivirus and malware protection. There are plenty out there like Norton, MaCafee and WebRoot that are very good at preventing this. If you are not comfortable installing it take it to a Best Buy or somewhere like that to install it for you.
