Poulon 3300 chainsaw, machine cut out and will not restart, I have gotton it going with starter fluid and manually working with the choke but will not stay going, my guess is that it is not getting gas into the carburator, also what is the spark plug gap?

Hi there, it's not a carb problem. That is to say, only the inlet gasket could be the problem.
Otherwise, the problem is the gap between, either the plug, or between the contact and the magneto.
One of those spaces need closing or opening, et voila.

& good luck with that.

210 2 stroke leaf blower it starts when choked and idles when choked but when i pull the throttle trigger it cuts off. I cleaned the air filter and replaced the plug.

hi mike. most likely problem is junk in the carburator. Get a can of starter fluid and an assistant. Remove the air filter. Start it up and before you pull the throttle have your assistant squirt the starter fluid into the air intake. Use more starter fluid as needed to keep it running for about 2 minutes to clear it. My Poulon 2375 saw runs like a charm as long as the choke is closed the minute you hit the trigger it quits so i rebuilt carb and its still the same

A common dust problem happens when refueling under dusty and windy conditions while cutting, sawdust gets into the tank and coats the fuel filter in there with a paper thin coating of sawdust. The saw now can't **** through that layer any more, so you have to choke to get even a little gas through. Take it apart, pull the filter off the line and blow it out from the line side and swish it in a can of gas to get it clear again. Now you will get lots of gas!

Starts ok runs for about 5mins then cuts out need choke to restart it then it wont run properly

If it needs the choke to restart it then there is a fuel blockage, the most obvious place is the fuel filter on the end of the fuel hose in the tank is blocked, remove the filter temporerily and run the machine, if it runs ok, then replace the filter with new.

I have a Poulon pro 18 42cc chainsaw. The dealer says I ran it with oil in the gas and I did not. What can cause the same effects of the appearrance that there is no oil in the gas.

cylinders that seize around the exhaust port of the cylinder usually come uner the headind of a lubrication break down ( loss of an oil film between the moving piston and the cylinder bore ) once the oil film is lost, the piston heats up very quickly and expands in the bore, the alluminium is then scraped off the front of the piston, this will gum the piston ring in, the hot gasess from the combustion process then blows past the piston, so the machine has basically seized.
Reasons for a lubrication seizure are.
Insufficent two stroke oil in the fuel.
Poor quaility two stroke oil in the fuel.
Incorrect grade of oil in the fuel.
Lack of maintenance.
Internal bearing break down within the machine.
Over heating due to dirt blocking starter cover air vents, and choked around cylinder finns.
Over heating due to poor chain maintenace ( blunt chain )
Incorrect carb settings ( running too lean )
Blockages in the fuel system causeing over reving.
Working practice ( over loading the saw ).
Air leaks within the machine causeing lean mixture and over reving.
Stale fuel, water in the fuel, dirty fuel.
Hope this answers your question, as you can see there are many reasons for a machine to seize.

It starts and runs but when you turn it off it won't restart.

I think the warm start procedure in the manual is causing it to flood. Try it like this, if you continue having problems reply below and we will try something else. PLEASE read #3 (Cold and Warm) a few times before attempting to start. Try it without 1/2 choke (your manual); completely open.
Start Procedure
Cold:
  1. Ignition on/off to on.
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws); pull starter and listen for an attempt to start. once heard (usually two pulls; no more than 4).
  4. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  5. Push (open) choke pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).
Warm:
  1. Ignition on/off to on.
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws) – Do not pull with choke closed or at 1/2 choke position.
  4. Push (open) choke, pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).
Hope this helps.

Chainsaw stalls in horizontal position

Inside the fuel tank is a hose with a weighted fuel filter on the bottom. If it is hung up or has hardened with age when you tip your saw this pickup my go above the fuel causing the saw to starve. You should hear the saw sputter and surge before it dies. Remove to fuel cap, insert a blunted rod and move it gently up toward the opening, the hose should be visible and this should have freed it if stuck.
If it suddenly quits running when tipped I'd check the electrical connections, under the starter housing.
If you find nothing and the problem continues time for a trip to your friendly local chainsaw shop. GL

Pulled choke and power swith is on, keep trying to pull the cord and stll won't start, yes it has gas

hi , try this, take the spark plug out. and leave it out for awhile ,to dry out.1 hour, clean plug ,put it back in the machine.then take the air cleaner off, make sure it is clean for later, get acan of aerostart or starter fluid NOW SWITCH ON, CHOKE OFF THROTTLE IN START POSITION''''' FULL THROTTLE ,AQUICK SQUIRT OF AEROSTART INTO THE TOP F THE CARBY AND PULLTHE START ROPE 3 OR4 TIMES NO MORE ,THE ENGINE SHOULD FIRE OR START;;;; if it does not at least fire you may have to try anew spark plug,if it fires but does not start, pu ll the choke out 1/2 way and pull 1 or 2 times only or you may flood it again, giv it another squirt in the carby and try again but dont keep pulling the starter as you will get crankey when ite rope breaks .if it starts let it run for afew minutes stop it replace the air cleaner 1/2 choke pull the starter should go push choke rightin after a couple of pulls start it and go to work. Please if this doesn`t work come back and tell me what happened for we may have to make a couple of adjustments
