    had the same problem, had the HDMI cable hooked up the picture was great, hooked up the surround sound and it worked through the DVD, but not when watching the tv. we called philliips and the problem was that the system we had purchased didn't have an audio optical connection, we had to buy a $20.00 fiber optic cable and take the phillips surround sound back and found an ld surround sound system with the HDMI and optical hookup for $279.00, now alls well.....

There are a few possibilities.
1)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the TV Audio OUTPUT to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS (NOTE: Many TV's do not have an Audio OUTPUT).
2)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the Audio OUTPUT of your cable or satellite box to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS.
Note: Using a red and white cable may not give you sound on all 5 speakers.
3)Get a digital audio or SPDIF cable and run it from the TV, Cable or Satellite Box's Digital Audio OUT to the "DIGITAL IN" of the HTS. This will give you the best sound quality. When using this (or any of the other) type of connection, press SURR until you get sound from all 5 speakers.
Also, the manual can be obtained from

I cant get the tv to go through the surround sound i can only get the surround sound to play when its a dvd playing do i need another wire to go from the dvd player or will it not work no matter what plz...

If you've got the Audio Input Source set as TV-Audio and it won't play as Surround Sound then you'll need to connect the Audio Out from your TV (if it has one?) to the Audio AUX IN on your LH-T360SE and change the Audio Input Source to AUX.

I have a vizio tv, sony dvd player and direct tv. i also have a denon avr-1905/785 surround sound receiver. i can't get the surrond sound to work while watching tv but it be comes through if i am watching...

If your TV has audio out and your surround sound has an audio in you need to get a lead to connect them together, most of them have - then you just select the Aux on the DVD/surround player (or whatever the input is called on the back) and everything comes through your speakers. If you only have headphone out jack on the TV it will mean you won't have your TV speakers working. I hope this is not really obvious to you and it was the first thing you tried!

I need help hooking up my tv and dvd player to my surround sound

for your dvd player you just go from audio out on the back of the dvd played to the audio in on the surround sound. and you would do the same for the tv if it has an audio out. your surround sound shoud have more than 1 audio in. and then when you swicht from tv to dvd you might have change the channle, setting, source, or what ever it might be called on the surround sound. and if your tv does not have a audio out contact me at and i try to help you. hope that works :)

Surround sound hookup question?

It looks like all you'll need to do is hook up audio out from DirecTV to audio in on the surround sound system. Sony has an interesting hookup recommendation guide on the product support site:

That should give you the connection options. The short answer, though, is to connect the best audio out from DirecTV to an audio in on the surround sound and then choose that option in the surround sound system when you want to watch TV.

Three (3) possible ways:
1. use the audio out of the TV (if available) which would normally be red/white RCA and connect to any of the free INputs of your DVD surround sound system;
2. remove the cable INput of your TV and feed it to a tuner such as those in a VCR or any other device (some DVDs have TV tuners also). The VCR's Video OUTput would go to your TV while the Audio OUTput would go to any of the free INputs of your DVD surround sound system;
3. if your cable uses a box/decoder and has the yellow, red & white RCA, its a matter of splitting the red/white signal to feed both your TV and DVD surround sound system or simply remove them from the TV and feed them to the DVD surround sound system.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

No surround sound when watching cable tv programs.

Looks like cable is not sending the full whack of audio data only Stereo. Or if they are then the set top box{is that how it works in the States?] has a fault. Check out the cable co support team.
