This is not a problem. The ipod is either syncing or backing its settings.
Once the activity is completed you can disconnect the device. On 1st Gen ipod, this 'do no disconnect' continues to appear even when the device is not syncing. However, it can be disconnected without problems. Click on the 'Eject' logo next to the ipod symbol in your itunes application window. Your device will now disconnect.
alternately you can also disconnect by removing the cable directly however please make sure that there is no activity taking place on your device. iTunes display window at the top of the application windows should be blank/clear.

Here is how to connect your Windows 7 installed notebook to an external display

Most of the notebooks that were manufactured in the past two-three years come with a HDMI port along with the old VGA port to connect your computer to an external display. Connecting and activating an external display on a Windows 7 machine is pretty simple.

Here is how to connect your Windows 7 installed notebook to an external display:
1. Connect your Windows 7 laptop to the external display using VGA or HDMI cable.
2. Then, switch on your Windows 7 laptop and also the external display.
3. Once Windows 7 is up and running, type Mobility Center in Start menu search area and hit enter to open the same.
4. If you have connected your Windows 7 machine to the external display properly, you should now see Display connected text under External display section of Windows Mobility Center. To use the connected external display, click Connect Display button. You should now see your Windows 7 desktop in the external display as well.
5. Use disconnect button in the Windows Mobility Center to disconnect the external display. When the display is connected and active, use Windows + P keys to quickly switch between these displays

disconnect the adapate +battery HOLD the power button by 30 secons aprox, by eliminated ESD. connect again the adpater and battery. and see what happen.
if the problem persist only connect the adpater, and see if the display is working. if is working try putting the battery , if failed the battery is faulty.

However if the computer doesnot turn on the display with only the adapter the ribbon cable display+gum conducter is failed, repair.

Speakers killed my moniter

Well as you have already tried disconnecting the peripherals from your computer, and tried restarting the computer too which did not help you, it sounds to be an hardware issue with the monitor. However if incase you have not tried this, you can disconnect the monitor completely from the tower, power on the monitor, if it powers on and you get a message as no signal, your monitor is working good. If not replace the monitor. If the message appears on the monitor screen, disconnect everything from the tower, push and hold the power button on the tower for a minute. Connect just the monitor and check for any display. If you do get display, thats good, connect one device at a time and check to see if the display appears.

If theres no display with just the monitor connected, the issue would be with the graphics card. You may need to replace it or get the system repaired.
