Question about Hunter 52" Ceiling Fan With Light And Remote Control

1 Answer

I have a hunter remote control for a ceiling fan. The light will turn on without anyone pressing anything. It happens occasionally and at any time. Could it be that someone has the exact same remote set to the same code??? Thanks

I have a hunter ceiling fan. Occasionally the light will turn on by itself. I've tried replacing the remote control battery. Didn't help. Any suggestions before I try an exorcism?

Give the remote another chance by removing the battery and pressing all the buttons to eliminate the possibility of a stuck one. Reinstall the battery and check operation.

There could be a random malfunction in the receiver causing the light to come on.

The manual light switch on the fan could be defective.

Keep the exorcist in reserve in case none of these suggestions solve the problem.

Hunter Ceiling Fan Remote Works Sporadically

The part that receives the signal from the remote control is the receiver which is located in the motor housing.

We had an electrician install a Hunter ceiling fan in our daughter's bedroom along with a Hunter remote control. The light will randomly turn on in the middle of the night. It seems to occur only when...

Before I did anything else I would try changing the code on the problem fan. Change the dip switches in the fan and in the remote controller unit to a different code. It is not impossible that a neighbor has the same code in their unit or a device in the area is operating off the same code. Probably the cheapest thing to try next.

I have a Hunter fan with remote. The fan or the light comes on by itself with no one around

See my post below: (Sorry, we're in the same boat)

Hunter ceiling fan with remote, have 5, 4 are seriously impaired! Lights dim to half strengh after variable time 10 seconds-30 minutes. And lights or fan turns on randomly (come home & fan on full blast), and one in which the lights won't dim (just blinks when try to dim)! Hunter "kinda" admits there is serious problem with remote but doesn't have a solution. Tells people to try changing to different code due to possible interference (pain in **** to change code on ceiling base!), was totally ineffective. Then replaced receiver in ceiling base (another total pain) in 3 fans with new ones sent Hunter, still totally useless. Hunter's suggestion, don't use the remote, just use the pull chain. If I had wanted a pull chain fan, I'd have bought a pull chain fan. TOTALLY USELESS! Moral of story: If you want a remote ceiling fan (my friend found out that all their remotes are made by the same company in Taiwan), don't buy Hunter!!!!! P.S. I found a "Kinda"- fix for the lights dimming to half strenth. After turning on the lights, wait 1 second, then dim lights slightly, they will then stay on the strength that you dim them to. - P.P.S. When I changed the receiver in the one where the lights won't dim, it "solved" that problem...Now it has the same problem as the others, lights or fan turn on randomly!

Fan and lights comes on automatically

· If you installed more than one remote-controlled ceiling fan, set the DIP switches on both receivers and the control of one fan to an identical alternate sequence (such as "all up" rather than "all down"). Otherwise, when you turn off the ceiling fan in one room, it will turn off the fan in the adjoining room. 2 things could be happening here. Either you have an intermittent electrical short where the remote attaches to the wires in the ceiling box, or a neighbor has a fan on the same type remote. If the second problem is what you have....good luck!

Hunter ceiling fan w/ remote won't work

You need to change the receiver inside the fan. It is located in the top canopy of the fan. you don't have to buy a new remote just the receiver to save money and match the dip switches to the remote.
