There are cd polishing products on the market which will remove some scratches but if they are deep then the cd is junk
cd's do not record of the top surface but off the surface behind the label so some polishing is possible and providing there are no polishing marks left

    Can i use toothpaste?

  • Bill Boyd May 11, 2016

you can use tooth paste or brasso or what ever you like but the correct polishing product will probably leave less scratches from the polishing action

I can not download it on my laptop the dvd just spins

make sure there are no scratches on dvd and clean dvd off as best you can. fingerprints can cause it not to be readable if disk isn't a great copy. see if you can see files with file explorer.

I WANT TO INSTALL MY PICTURES ON DISK TO MY COMPUTER

If you want to copy pictures from a CD into your computer follow the steps:

1) Double click on "My Computer" icon on your desktop

2) Make sure the CD is inside. RIGHT-CLICK on the cd drive and choose "open".

3) Press CTRL-A (that is "CTRL" key and "A" key together) on your keyboard. This will select all files on cd. If you want to copy one by one then just click once on the file and continue to next step

4) Press CTRL-C (this is the copy shortcut) and then close this window by hitting the "x" on the top right

5) Open "My Documents" folder on your desktop or start menu

6) Double click on "My Pictures" folder, or you can skip this step if you want to store the photos in your documents folder

7) Press CTRL-V (this is the paste shortcut)

8) Your files should begin copying now.

Sata hdd windows dell recovery cd will partition install windows

The system is originally designed to use IDE HDD, make sure the necessary chages for Sata HDD are made in the BIOS, next make sure the Recovery disc is fine without any scratches. You can order a new Windows OEM recovery disc by calling Dell tech support (1-800-624-9896-US) and try installing the OS. The disc will cost you not more than $12.

How to forat the hard drive

Good day sir, hi, lets review first some of the reasons why windows xp cannot be installed on your PC, here are the possibilities :
  1. Your Windows XP CD is scratched beyoned readable. You will get prompts for missing files or files that can't be read on the CD. Get a good copy of windows XP.
  2. A memory module (ram) or some are defective, you get the blue screen with all sorts of warnings and data you can't understand and numbers you don't know. Check your ram modules. To be sure have it tested on another PC. If bad, replace it.
  3. Your memory should be aleast 128 mb or more for windows XP to install properly.
  4. Your CD/DVD drive is bad or selective of the CDs it reads, you may need to check the drive.
  5. your hard drive is bad, or has to much bad sectors near the boot area, where windows install its system and boot files, you have no choice but to replace it with a new one, or else you cannot format the old one no matter how.
Thats it, if I miss something, let me know, send me error messages to diagnose it properly.

PS2

You can try cleaning it with a damp cotton cloth and then dry it gently. This works on some of my sons games, however you have probably tried this already. The shop 'Game' repairs scratched disks really cheaply, you should try them.
