Toshiba hdmi ports not working
hey guys, thanks for your time, I have a 52lx177 regza cinema series television and am having major problems with the hdmi imputs not reading the hdmi cables at all or just for a little while and then dropping the signal entirely and me having to reset everything to get a signal just for the damn thing to do it again! I thought that it might be my direct tv hddvr box, which is why I have gone through 5 of them in the past 6 weeks, finally I decided to just keep my component cables hooked up to the tv and hddvr box instead because nothing is being brodcast in 1080 p on television anyway. Well guess what happened when I finally bought a ps3 and tried to start watching movies, THE SAME THING! Everything is fine for a very short period of time and then bam, the signal goes out and the tv says no video signal. If I turn everything off and disconnect the hdmi cable from the tv and then reconnect it I get picture again and things are fine but not for very long before the same thing happens again and again and again. I have tried over 5 different hdmi cables with both pieces of equipment so I know its not the cables. Listen, I love toshiba but if I cant get this problem fixed and soon I will never even look at their brand name ever again! I spent with warrenty almst 5,000. and to be going through this hell sickens me right now! Please help me with this, I am at the end of my patience and have lost enough time, money, sleep, and piece of mind. I thank you and look forward to talking to you very soon. chris grossnickle

-   Shiny new Toshiba 40RV52U... great picture, decent sound, HDMI input ports are a miserable failure. Anytime the HDMI signal glitches (i.e. power up a DVD player, change video stream on a TIVO box, the darn TV says "No Input Signal" and otherwise presents a black screen. Cycle power on the TV... or change video inputs... returning to the input that gave you problems and it will find itself again.
TOSHIBA... FIX THIS NOW!

-   I have the same issue with a brand new 40" RV525U. I have HD dvd on my laptop, pluged in my HDMI cable to both units and it worked fine for a few minutes. I accidently closed the laptop and it shut off, I haven't been able to get a signal since. I tried all the troubleshooting methods in the manual to no avail. I'm thinking about taking the tv back, any ideas??-

-   I also just bought the 52lx177. Immediately I experienced the same problem, but with a comcast HD box. I also replaced the box 3 times and got new cables. Last night I went a bought a Toshiba HD DVD to see if this would work. It worked when I plugged it in and watched a full movie. This morning I turned the two on again, it played for 1.5 minutes, TV went black for ~5 seconds, and then showed "no video input". I like the TV in general, but I am taking it back to the store; was thinking about just replacing it with the same model, but now uncertain about Toshiba?-

I talked to Toshiba about his problem, this morning. They said they have never hear of such an issue. I told them the TV was less than 1 week old, and would hope Toshiba would do something in response to my alternative action of returning both my Toshiba HD DVD and 52LX177 for a new brand. They said all they can do is have me go to a service center for them to repair it. 1 week old TV and DVD, $4000, for repair; I don't think so. I talked to two different people a Toshiba regarding this, with the same answer. Very poor customer support, especially for a higher end product like this. I think I have no choice but to change brands.

It may have something to do with the resolution. I have a PS3 which
works just fine with my Sharp LCD, but when I bring it to my friend's
place and plug it in to his Toshiba LCD the screen stays black. It
stops saying "No Signal", but it doesn't seem to understand the signal
coming across.
Fortunately, I have the auto-play option on so when I pop in a game
it starts it automatically. Anything that normally runs at 1080p it's
just a black screen, but for the games that run at 720p it works
normally.
What you could try in this case is check the device sending the
signal to see if you can force it to stay at 720p (while using an
alternate video connector if needed, for example RCA cables), or maybe
1080i, not sure if that will help but it might be worth a shot.

I had similar issues with a brand new 46" LCD (Toshiba). The layout was cable box HDMI --> 7.1 2009 Pioneer Receiver --> TV. After hours of struggling including removing the receiver from the system and going direct (cable box HDMI to TV HDMI), still no signal. Then by pure accident I got it to work. Turns out the TV liked one HDMI cable better than another. I swapped my HDMI cables from the original wiring configuration and the TV came to life no problem. Running through my receiver no problem. I'm still leary of this TV but I'm going to let it run for now as I have a 2 year warranty from Costco.
