My calculator works fine but recently when I use it the screen is very light. I already have it on maximum darkness and sometimes it works but occasionally the screen flickers?

When screen is at maximum darkness you see almost nothing.

Here how you change screen contrast (just in case another readed does not know how to do it).

To increase contrast:
1. Press [2nd] key then release it
2.Press [UpArrow] key then release it.
3. Repeated steps 1 and 2 in sequence, until contrast is dork to your taste.

To decrease contrast:
Follow the algorithm (a very big word for procedure) above substituting [DownArrow] for [UpArrow].

Hope it helps.

Sorry I do not know what that dork means, nor where it came from. I cannot edit the post.

Calculator will not turn on.

Here are some steps which you can try, one might work for you.

- First thing that you have to check is the battery of the calculator, it might be low of charge already.
- Check if you have the "Reset" hole at the back of it, use a pin or a ballpen point to reset it.
- You can try to give 3-4 good tap at the back of the calculator using your palm, sometimes this gets the calculator work again.
- Also try to notice the LCD screen if you get a faint display when lighted. Sometimes this is caused by low battery charge or failing LCD screen.

Hope this helps.

  5. Press [-] to lighten the screen (Your case)
  6. Stop when contrast is adequate.

What do i do if the calculater will not turn back on ? i installed new batteries already

The most common problem in the TI calculators is not a real problem at all. When you replace batteries, the screen display may become too light and you cannot see that the calculator is already ON.
Increase the darkness of the display. Here is how to do it.
  1. Press the [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press the UP navigational arrow and HOLD the pressure.
On the Top right corner of the screen a number is displayed (between 0 and 9). The value changes as the screen contrast changes.
When the contrast is adequate (to your liking) release the Up arrow.

Calculator will not turn on. I have a texas instrument calculator TI85 that will not start. Any suggestions?

The batteries may be depleted, and they need to be replaced. If abtteries are fresh and the calculator seems toi refuse to turn ON, the screen darkness must be increased before declaring that the calculator does not start. If screen is too light you won`t be able to see that calculator is already ON.

To increase the contrast.
  1. Press the [2nd] and release it.
  2. Press and HOLD the UpArrow key until you can see something on the screen.
  3. The screen may have about 10 levels of darkness
Hope it helps.
