Hp 255 charging but not switching ... what could be the problem. Have tried everythng but have failed

the HP.com manual on your PC tells what those POST errors are caps flash, for sure, and beeps too.
Hp 255- dash what. a NOTE BOOK PC IT IS.
no told full model name so manuals are impossible to tell
G1 to G8 dash? not told
8 generations

RTM read the manual at HP.com
sure I bet G1 is now gone sure but we can find them googling with real model numbers not told
sure can, do so.

btw POST errors are hardware failures, mostly

and it finds the cause.

I hope you're still reading this but I had exactly the same problem with the Ixus 255 HS as you describe (full battery - false message - filled battery icon when looking to pictures on the memory card).
After some failed rescue attempts (recharging, completely discharging, 10 second hold of on/off button), I think I finally found it: put a small piece of paper or carton in between the battery opening door and the battery. This pushes the battery a couple of millimeters deeper in the battery bay and ensures a good contact between battery and pins at the other end.

Seems like Canon were a bit cheap on the plastic levers that secure the battery ... or perhaps they erode after some time of usage. This type of camera is often exposed to more aggressive conditions than the bigger, more expensive camera's out there :)

The battery status only shows up when the satnav is disconnected from the charger. Your first charge should be a continuous charge until the battery is full. This can be done by connecting it to your computer for 8 hours approximately or 4 hours to your car cigarette lighter socket or 4 hours to an, optional extra, mains charger.

when it is charging u just slide the on/off switch to the left, it is spring loaded, hold to the far left for a second then release, if the unit doesn't turn on it is defective.

let it charge via the usb for a few hours, then try holding the lower right corner of the screen, while holding that hold the power switch till it turns on then release when you see the message, "do you really want to delete all your data" <<< that erases your favorites and any other saved info, but that is how you reset your 255

Have you tried resetting the GPS,the reset buuton is on the bottom of the GPS under the serial number,
press and hold the reset button for several seconds.
If this fails try rebooting by holding the Power switch on for about 15 seconds.

Open your cabinet(box) and replace CMOS battery, then turn on your machine, it would work fine.
