A disc reads disc error after cleaning. The player is working fine with other discs . All I get is advice regarding the player, which is NOT the problem.

I had luck about 15 years ago using toothpaste. Apparently scratches that you may not have noticed are the likely cause of the problem.

I found a link to a method.

Not gel toothpaste, but gritty toothpaste or baking soda was recommended.

Fixing Scratched CD's, Games, etc.

To fix a scratched CD:
1) take a tube of toothpaste and place a dab on the CD.
2) Rub the toothpaste around the scratched area and let sit for a few minuets.
3) Take a slightly damp cloth and wipe the toothpaste off.
Note: do not rub in a circle, wipe off the paste starting from the middle, going out.
4) Finally, gently dry the CD with a towel, and play away!

Glasses

use toothpaste rub a small amount on the scratched lens depending on how deep the scratch is rub the toothpaste over the scratch until the scratch is repaired.
Glass lenses are delicate and can be easily scratched.
These scratches mar vision beyond the lens, and can sometimes obstruct vision completely.
Prevention is the best method to keep glasses clear, but accidents can occur.
Luckily, there are several ways to quickly and inexpensively remove scratches from glass lenses.
These methods include using toothpaste, baking soda, windshield fluid and vehicle wax.
Apply a small amount of toothpaste on a soft, cotton cloth.
Rub the toothpaste onto the lens using small, circular motions.
Continue wiping for about 10 seconds and rinse with cold water.
For deep scratches, the method may need to be repeated.
Mix two parts baking soda with one part water to form a thick paste.
Use the cotton cloth to apply the paste to the lens, rubbing in a circular motion.
Rinse afterward and dry with a separate cloth.
Once again, this step may need to be repeated for stalwart scratches.
Apply a small amount of windshield fluid to a soft cloth, and polish the glass lens for several seconds.
This is more useful for light scratches, and is usually not effective against deep, prominent blemishes.
Use a clean cloth to buff vehicle wax onto the glass lens, once again moving in a circular motion, and continuing until the scratches have been removed.
Use several cloths, as the wax can adhere to the fabric, marring its performance.
Purchase an eyeglass polishing kit from a local optometrist.
These kits usually contain a polishing fluid and a soft cloth.
They are ideal for removing scratches from small glass lenses on glasses, cameras, telescopes and more.
They can be purchased for $10 to $20 and include easy-to-understand directions.

CDS slipping when playing.

Try the disc in another CD / DVD player.

It is important to make sure that the DVD itself is the problem, and not the CD / DVD player.

Cleaning a CD / DVD player is a much more intricate process that requires device-cleaning hardware.

Lay the disc artwork-side down so that you can easily clean the playing side.

You should always avoid setting a disc playing-side down to prolong its lifespan.

Gently rub the disc with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove all traces of dust and fingerprints. Always rub a disc from the center toward the outer rim in a light motion to prevent any other damage.

Apply a light amount of toothpaste to a cotton wool ball and gently rub the disc from the inside out.

You may need a few drops of water to make the toothpaste spread easily.

Cover the entire surface area of the disc, or at least the area that is scratched.

Toothpaste is a gentle abrasive that works well for fixing simple scratches.

Clean off the toothpaste with the cloth, once again rubbing from the inside of the disc toward the rim.

Try not to push too hard to prevent further damage.

Apply other kinds of light abrasives such as baking soda or glass cleaner if the sound is still distorted.

Remove the solution with the same gentle rubbing technique.

Purchase a disc-cleaning spray from a local video or electronics store.

These sprays are effective in removing any grime from the disc and filling small scratches.

hope this helps

How can I remove the scratches from my glass coffee table?

Unfortunately, there is no safe way to remove scratches from glass. I don't recommend trying anything at home because you could make it much worse. If you are bent on keeping the table I suggest taking it to glassworker to see if he can sand it down with special tools.

The CD player doesn't always work. It cuts on and off at times. What should I do?

check and make sure the CD's aren't scratched. If they are scratched use toothpaste to clean it by,
1.put 3 or 4 pea-sized dots of toothpaste around the cd.
2.take some kind of cloth or tissue paper to rub the toothpaste
3.rub from the middle to the outside, ACROSS the circular path (if you're not rubbing in this direction, you're not doing any good)
4.and wash off the toothpaste and any tissue follicles that got attached to the cd, throw the tissue/cloth out
5.-dry the cd on a clean towel
if this doesnt work take try blowing into the cd player, their may be a build up of dust.

This is the type of thing you should use, they really do work and you can get them world wide form all ebay sites and shops.
You can also try a home method, this is to use a cloth and toothpaste, toothpaste will act like fine sandpaper and small circle rubbing over the area will buff the scratch out.

Console not being read

Try updating the firmware... Also, check if any other disc works or not.. If it does, then get the disc which you have inserted is at fault, try to replace it... If that's not possible, try cleaning it by various methods... If all else fails, and you have no other option but to throw that disc, try using toothpaste on it ... It works sometimes..
