I SAY ITS THE FUEL PUMP.CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE AT BATTERY TERMINAL TO FUEL PUMP.CHECK TERMINALS 1 AND 4 FOR POWER.IF POWER GOING TO TERMINALS 1 AND 4. I SAY FUEL PUMP BAD.
The Transmission Range Sensor in your car is digital so I recommend using a scan tool that displays sensor feedback data. Alternatively if you have an low impedance automotive rated multimeter you can back-probe the wires at the sensor connector and test for voltage.
The following specifications are based on a review of the wiring diagram for the TR sensor. I cannot guarantee the accuracy of this procedure, as there are other sensors that are related to this circuit.
With the key on you should get 12V, or 5V at the GRY/RED wire. With they key on and in park you should get voltage at all wire terminals. Key on in reverse you should get voltage at LT BLU/BLK, and YEL/BLK. Key on in neutral you should get voltage at WHT/BLK, and YEL/BLK. Key on in 2 you should have voltage at RED/BLK, and LT BLU/BLK. Key on in 1 you should have voltage at RED/BLK, and WHT/BLK.
the blower motor is going. It's drawing too much current and taking out the resistor pack. It has a thermal limiter that melts when the resister gets too hot. Repalce motor and resistor.
Hi, it sounds like your front diff engages but your transfer case is not. raise one of your front tires off the ground and see if it will lock up when you go to 4hi. If it does then the problem is your encoder motor that hangs down under your transfer case.
the fuel pump relay has 1 big red wire with a stripe on it and a small gray wire and 2 blk wires one with a stripe on it and possibly a small orange wire all going to the plug on the bottom of the relay
It is a coil on plug system. The Red or Red/Striped wire is the control of the primary winding from the ECM. The BLK/ORG wire is the ground side of the primary winding. The BLK/BLU wire is the secondary winding wire.
ONLY USE DENSO SPARK PLUGS IN A 2000 PASSPORT. If you use aftermarket plugs, the crankshaft sensor tends to detect it as a signal to the computer, and for some reason it resets the computer. Seen it happen more than once.
Sounds like you need a light tester. I would guess that at least 8 of the wires are speaker + & - the others will be Main power and earth Possibly electric ariel, Memory store and a wire for the anti theft circuit. Assuming the stereo is factory. Any Audio shop can perform a test to clarify the purpose of the wires Wouldnt worry about the blank its probably a position for a newer or different model to yours.
