If you are saying you need to put it back together after cutting it..just go to a local auto parts store like Napa or autozone and ask for a quick wiring splice kit or just a wire splice connector ..they will guide you...good luck..

2003 Buick LeSabre. I have no tail lights, but have all the other lights. Can a bad switch cut off just tail light?

It could be the switch. Check this though that I found

Wire broken in wire harness that follows right rear trunk arm. It is a common problem.

How do you stop your trunk from opening when you put your car in reverse?

You have a short between the trunk motor and the reverse lights. Follow the harness from the trunk latch to to reverse lights. Open the harness there and start looking.

2005 Kia Spectra - brake lights on tail lights are not working but the brake light above the hatch is working. Have checked fuses. Any ideas?

Check around in that trunk for loose wires. Especially a grounding wire at the taillights. Sometimes in our hurry to shove stuff in the trunk it's possible to disconnect, or cut a wire... If you've got the 'cyclops" light working on the hatch, then there's power back there, just look around and I'm sure you locate a loose or damaged wire... trace them back from the taillights and look close for cuts, frays, damage, loose connection..

My car keeps blowing brake light fuses and i've put a new brake light switch into it and the problem is still there

Check the wiring in the trunk area. It could be that the wiring to the lights themselves got damaged and is shorting out. Look for bared, cut, crushed wires in the harnesses...especially the brake warning light that is in the rear window.

2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. Backup lights won't work

Does pushing the trunk release button make the back up lights illuminate? Has the car been serviced or wrecked before this problem? Have you been golfing and put clubs in the huge trunk. Either the ground wire for the trunk lid devices is bad or the trunk release wire (purple/orange) and the reverse lamps wire (purple/white) have been reversed.

Rear Left Light

Chances are the ground wire is frayed or partially broken. You could cut the black wire on the bulb socket, crimp a new wire onto the socket side of the cut, and ground that to a bolt in the engine bay. If the ground wire was frayed somewhere, this will likely fix the problem.
