SOURCE: Sony VPL-DS100 will not turn on

I had same problem. The cause was a blown fuse (T5.0 Amp 250V). You have to open the case and then get below the print that is under the alloy cover. it is quite simple to fix. A fuse costs 60 cents.

SOURCE: How do I reset the lamp timer on the Sony VPL-DS100?

The answer above is incorrect. You do not hit all four button simultaneously, The "trick" is that you need to press each button (in order) but quickly. The Sony manual wrongly lead you to believe that the bottons are to be pushed "for less than five seconds each" when it means to say that you need to press all 4 buttons as fast as possible (i.e. 2 or 3 seconds for all 4 buttons).

There is gold holes they have to be removed

Those are the mounting bracket threads. They don't come out. Take out the 5 long brass screws and the one short silver screw. Flip the whole thing over and take off the top.

Where exactly is the fuse located for Sony VPL DS 100?

Take out the screws on the bottom. Flip it over and take off the top plate. Pull (from the connectors) the wires going over what looks like a steel plate with several small holes. Take out the screws (6 total) holding that plate and the circuit board on. Pull off the steel plate and the plastic under it. Lift up on the circuit board under that: there are to connectors on the underside that have to be removed. Once you get it out, the fuse is near the end, about 3/4" long and ceramic white.

Sony VPL-DS100

I have solved this problem. Seems the rotating stand on the front bottom needed to be pushed and turned so that it inserts well inside. If it not well pushed the projector keeps shutting down itself every 10-15seconds. Took me about an hour to open the projector and doing all kinds of experiments to finally try that. :)

Hi DianeMcF

There is only two things that could cause a pink colour to appear on your screen.

Try using a different cable - which I'm sorry to say - I doubt will fix the problem.

This is most probably a LCD that will have to be replaced , and do take my word for it that this is not something you would want to replace yourself as it is extrememly difficult and a very delicate process not to harm the other LCD's.
