Hi there, If you have it on manual setting, try lowering the ISO setting on the camera to 100 or 200 maximum. Also, if you can set shutter speed, try speeding the shutter speed up to at least 1/200 sec or 1/500 sec and it should not overexpose anywhere near as much.

If you are on AUTO mode, check you have not dialled in a mode like night shooting or low light shooting. If you have a sports shooting mode, set it to that and take some photos outside to see if they are still overexposed.

if after you have tried all the above, the shots are still overexposed, you may have a problem with your camera requiring fixing from the manufacturer.

Hope this helps!

I found the answer on another board

It happened also to me the problem is caused by a broken flat cable, which is connecting aperture/shutter coils from inside of the lenses to controller board - it is poorly manufactured probably too short (extra stress at end of zoom). I tried to repair it - by soldering to repair the damaged part, see some photos there:

Be careful when trying the same, not forget to discharge the flash capacitor and document all the taken-off parts to be able to assemble everything back together

I have only used the camera once and when i turn it on the screen is pink and the photos are pink. What can i do to fix this or what is the problem?

If you happened to expose the camera to bright sunlight it could have damaged the CCD which is the image sensor in the camera. So keep aside after removing battery for a while and switch on .
If the pink shade comes on the you can claim for warranty on the camera as it is new one.

Pictures are over exposed when outside

You may have the settings wrong. Check in the MENU to see if you have it set to "inside" pics rather than outside.
Also the ISO has a lot to do with the exposure. If the iso is set too low outside sunlight pics will be white or overexposed. Try setting ISO on wheel for various options select program mode button and MENU select ISO 120 or 250. These are are pretty general settings. the flash will only engage inside or outside if the light is low ( like evening) I suspect your ISO setting is at a setting that is incompatible with bright sunlight
t
Also select White Balance and move it to DAYLIGHT

take a few shots inside and out to see if there is an improvement.

When taking pic in sunlight - lcd screen is whited out!!

I think that's normal. I also have experienced the same always when the screen is exposed to sunlight. Try adjusting its brightness or use an anti-glare protection.
