Hi, Welcome to FixYa

It seems to be a problem with the circuit or It may be the automatic format switcher is not working properly.

Try to reset your TV for a couple of times and see if that helps. If not, you will need an expert tech to look at it.

Reset is done by disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet for 4 hours, then power up. Do it twice. If this doesn't work then you may have to change the electrolytic capacitor of the vertical section. So better take to a technician.

It is not an adjustment; it is a malfunction of either the vertical deflection system or the auto format switching circuits.

Thanks

Wheel is missing letters, broke off I guess. Does the wheel get old and fall apart? I haven't used the type writer in a few months. Should I get another wheel or call for repair? Thanks! Karen

The wheel usually last for many years. I'm assuming you are getting 2 vert lines in place of the missing letter (hammer face). Used replacement wheels are available for 29,95.

The TV has a thin horizontal line across the screen. Sometimes the line has color and sometimes the line is white. Everything else seems to be working (i.e. sound, channel changing, game hookups)....

you have a vertical output problem, take something insulated and prod around board and see if pix starts to flutter, then you could have a "cold-solder" joint, otherwise its more than likely a capacitor between the vert driver circuit and the vert output circuitry,

yes you got vert foldover best bet buy a new tv . you can fix it but if you replace the vert anp and the assorted caps and IF you still have a problem in the power supply in a really short time (1-2 hours) you will burn out the amp again , and blow 2 caps and a zener diode all over a regulator problem that showes it self when ever it wants too .... out 35.00 in parts and 2.5 hours labor right back where i started ....trust me you dont want to open this can of worms . if you have it done except to pay between 100.00 -200,00 for the repair and ask them to run the set for a day or so before you pick it up

Vert deflection problem

You are correct about having a dry or leaky capacitor that is causing those lines to show on the top of the screen.
Check the caps with low capacitance like 1uf, 10uf, 47uf, etc.
No quicker fix for this one until you change the capacitors.
Hope this helps.

My monitor give tow horizontal lines

There should be a dry joint at the vert IC with five pin.
Resolder it, then it wold be ok.

you have a vert sweep colapse. Fisrt thing is to get a schematic diagram and find the vert. output Ic and the clamper diode. Measure the voltage on both sides. If its low then its apossibility that the Ic was drawing loads of current and blew out the b+ feed resistor. Look on the schematic and trace back the voltage line from the vert output ic back to the sweep power supply on the secondary of the flyback transformer. check the limiter resistor to the feed and if its open replace the cap right there the resistor as well as the vertical output Ic ALL AT ONCE!!! If you dont you will cause it to go out again in a short time. Good Luck.. If you post the vert part of the schematic I will be more then happy to assist you with this repair.

SONY KV-27FV310: UPPER HALF OF SCREEN IS BLACK

You have a vert sweep problem and unless you know how to trouble shoot this cuircit bring it to a pro. I found out mostly in these sets that the vert output IC is bad.. Also sometimes the b+ filter cap off the fly is leaky and made the IC to fail. Another thing is Im surprised to hear you got a pic with the vert failure and a bright line in the pic!! This could be a big problem when the sets fixed so dont run it too long like this. It could burn a line all the way across the screen and you will see a dark faint line in your pic because of this. BE CAREFULL!!
