Hoover Apollo Delux not drying properly and takes ages. Outlet air is hot but my wife says it's not drying as well as it used to. The front filter is clean but is there an inlet filter that I'm overlooking and which may be clogged? It's mounted high up on the wall & upside down. Can't find the user manual to check.

If your Hoover 5kg dryer is not working properly, there are a few potential causes for this problem:
The dryer may not be receiving enough power. Make sure the dryer is plugged in and the outlet is functioning properly.
The dryer's lint filter may be clogged. Clean the lint filter to ensure it is not blocking the air flow.
The dryer's vent may be clogged. Check the vent and clean it if necessary to ensure the air can flow freely.
The dryer's heating element may be damaged. If the heating element is not functioning properly, the dryer will not be able to dry clothes effectively.
If you are unsure how to check for and address these potential causes, you may want to consult the user manual for your Hoover dryer or contact the manufacturer for assistance.
Wow, a late 1980 machine! If it is turning and not heating it probably needs a new heating element, IF you can find one. New ones are more energy efficient and look prettier. They also have sensing programs to stop drying when the clothes are dry and my Whirlpool has a water injector to steam refresh clothes or remove creases before you wear.
The energy rating for this dryer is 1.5 stars. Of course it depends on the condition of the dryer and how well it has been maintained. Does the hot air coming out of the front vent smell scorched or burnt? If so, you need to get the back off, clean out all the lint inside there. Then remove the drum, then remove the heater element carrier off the back of the drum. Its the only way you can clean all the lint out from around the heater element. After 19 years, its going to be needing it. Please don't pass the dryer to your friend without having it properly cleaned out as described. Don't give your friend a fire hazard. Dryers cause house fires, don't risk it please.
Restricted air flow...either vent or wheel that moves the air. Try taking hose off of where it goes outside and just let it run like that and see if clothes dry faster. If so you need vent cleaned.
i dont think so , even if you could get the parts it would be quite tricky to fix without the proper tools and if you bought the tools they would cost more than a replacement dryer
