I HAVE A PC RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA. SIMPLY MONEY IS INSTALLED AND HAS WORKED IN THE PAST. WHEN I TRY TO RUN IT I GET THT IT CANNOT FIND THE DATA FILES

* It is not necessary to back up ur data. U can simply run the Windows 7 upgrade, it will not delete ur files and folders. It will only replace the windows and system files.

** If u want to back up ur data then simply copy ur all data to another partition except C drive (System Drive) and then install a fresh copy of windows 7 and by format only c partition.

*** If there is only a single partition, then simply copy all your necessary data to CD/DVD aur pen drive aur any external hard drive and install a fresh copy.

**** U can also use Partition Magic to make two partition by cutting some space from C drive in case of only one partition.

You can try installing in "Compatibility Mode" using this xp driver (Click Here to download), but I can't guarantee you that it will definitely work since some work while others don't.

First download the driver, right-click the installer file i.e. "f5u208_winxp.exe" > select "Properties" and then click "Compatibility" tab, select "Run this program in compatibility mode", select "Windows xp service pack 2" from the available lists of o.s., again select "Run the program as administrator", click "Apply" and then "Ok", now run the installer to install. Once you double-click the "f5u208_winxp" to install, you'll be prompted to unzip, click Browse and navigate through the folders and go to "System32" folder under "Windows" directory of C:\ drive, click "Ok" and then click "Unzip" to install. If you have problem doing this, simply unzip it in C drive, after that, copy the files and paste them into system32 folder.

If this doesn't work, you have no choice.

If you are updating from Winos XP orsome higher version to Windows 7, an automatic update is run which backup allthe data, installed files and saved application settings.If you freshly install Windows 7 inyour PC, it will remove all the installed applications and saved settings.

There is a work around to getting Windows XP programs to work under Windows Vista - Virtual PC 2007.

Virtual PC 2007 is a free download from Microsoft and it allows you to install any operating system and run it in a "window" on your Vista desktop.

Download Virtual PC 2007, create a Windows XP virtual machine, install Microsoft Money and transfer in your data. You can install Quicken as well.

The virtual machine will use your PC's actual connections (network, serial and printer but not USB) to connect to devices and the Internet.

Again - this is a work around that is proven to work. One side benefit - you can copy the virtual machine to an external hard drive / USB memory stick and run it on any comptuer that has Virtual PC 2007 installed on it.

its not a big problem,first don't panic.just follow the steps i m telling you-
when computer give options like safe mode,safe mode with net working etc.enter on safe mode
after that if windows starts thn run your antivirus installed in your computer and if u dont hav antivirus then install it using pendrive or cd and run it.
after full scan od the system restart computer again.
if problem persists then again start your computer in safe mode and cut all the importand data from your c drive and paste it on d drive or e drive and reinstall XP or VISTA but remember while installing XP OR VISTA computer will ask you to format whole computer or the c drive only,u only format c drive.

and always have one good antivirus installed in your system and update it regularly.

Try to shut down it trough it frm shortcuts keys given on laptop or you can even re-install windows (if u hav no important data in tht laptop).

MGI Photosuite on Vista, THE FINAL SOLUTION!!! First you need to get hold of an MGI disc or a download. I have been trying to get MGI Photosuite III SE to install on Vista for months without success and then when I thought I'd finally sorted it I could not launch the program due to a script error. You do not need Virtual PC, Virtual XP or any add-ons. Simply find and right click the the MGI setup file, check the run in compatibility mode as Windows XP SP2 and install. After install, send a program launch shortcut to your desktop, right click, go to properties and check the Windows XP compatibility mode once again. Finally, while you still have the compatibility screen open add a tick check to Run As Administrator. Hey presto my beloved MGI Photosuite is back! MGI is fantastic for being user friendly and simple, and although I know other users insist there are better programs, I’ve tried loads and I still think it’s a winner.

First of all there is a difference between C and C++

Download VS 2008
For C++ you can use Visual Studio 2008 which from the ground up was built for Vista so it should work fine. If you dont want to spend money try out the express edition from the microsoft site. You will be required to register the product but its not a trial and will work fine for you :)

For C you can run the programs in compatibility mode
If you still cannot find anything suitable for C to run under VISTA then you will have to right click on the exe file of your c compiler and choose to run it in compatibility mode. Choose Win Xp (Service pack 2) and it will run fine for you.

• You did not let Microsoft Internet Explorer to install.
• If third-party software un-registers a very important Microsoft Money component. Currently, SnapStream Personal Video Station (PVS) software and Cellar! software may cause this issue.

To resolve:


Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\msxml3.dll" in the Open box, and then press ENTER.

Note On Microsoft Windows 2000-based computers, type regsvr32 "c:\winnt\system32\msxml3.dll" in the Open box.

Note If you receive the "LoadLibrary(msxml3.dll) failed - The specified module could not be found" error message, follow these steps:

i hate Vista as well. i am trying to find a solution. my whole life over the past couple of years is wrapped up in the eventminder and fmnot32 files but after installing Creatacard on my machine with Vista, it will not recognize the files.

i open my address book, it's empty. i open my calendar it too is empty. how can i get this program to recognize the files i copied from the old machine? PLEASE HELP! i've tried everything including dragging them both over at the same time (file plus .BAK). i don't know what else to do.
