Motorola SB5101 SURFboard Cable Modem Reboots Itself

I have a Motorola SB5101 SURFboard Cable Modem, and it's plugged directly to a 2.4 GHz Belkin Wireless G Router, then my Xbox 360 is plugged directly into the router. I have a great connection, but when I turn my Xbox on, it'll stay connected for about a minute then the modem reboots and starts to connect again, but gets stuck at sending and won't get online. I unplugged it and still had the same problem. I unplugged it and left it alone for awhile and got the internet connection back, but then turned my Xbox on and the modem rebooted again. Please help me.

where do I type in 127.0.0.1?
I've switched the CAT5 cable and didn't have any luck. I'm beginning to think the modem's gone bad, it's pretty old.

If your modem has a reset button I would start there. If it doesnt, then you might be able to configure it manually, usually typing in 127.0.0.1(you can still access your modem even if you do not have internet) See if there is a reset button inside the settings, if not, then just keep a look out for any odd settings that might explain what it is doing. If none of this works, then you probalby have a bad cable modem, however, I would try a different CAT5 cable just to be safe, you never know, it could be a bad wire causing a short-out or something.

The ISP modem (cable) connects to wireless (yellow port) PC and other devices connect to any port available on wireless. This is the standard setup.

I have a motorola surfboard sb5101 cable modem and have lost the network key. I have a new laptop and 3 new HTC HD phones and I can't log on to my home network. How do I re-assign a password.

You shouldn't need a key for the modem. However, if you are missing the network key for a wireless modem, there is a reset on the back of the device. (Small hole, usually requires a paperclip). Hold that for 30 seconds or so. It will reset to factory specs - Simply rebuild it from there following the installation CD or directions from the manufacturer's site.

I cant get my motorola sb5101 surf board cable modem to connect to a belkin g wireless router. the light on the belkin flashes orange when i try to connect it to the modem but no internet connection

I have a similar problem. The common denominator seems to be the SB5101. I have a brand new Belkin Surf 300N, same issue. The modem will not give DHCP to the router. I can connect fine via ethernet to the modem directly.
This modem seems to be a dinosaur.

Trying to get my ps3 connected so i can get online

You need to disable the UPnP function on the Belkin router. Log into the router(192.168.2.1), and look under System Settings. If you haven't changed the password on the router, the default password is blank, i.e., no password.

No connectivity; constant blinking LED lights "Receive" and "Send"

Or you didn't pay your subscription on time and the ISP disabled your cable modem to send user traffic over the cable network. When both Send and Receive lights are blinking that is a visual aid that the modem is working fine, but the ISP disabled its access to the network (unpaid bill, legal issues, etc.)
