Re: programs

Generally, Windows will recognize the drive as new hardware and do the work for you.
To be sure you have installed it properly, please check this out.
If you still have problems, the IDE cable or your DVD drive is defective.

Aspire 5750 keeps showing a message There is no associated program to perform the requested action and will not operateon windows 7 Home Premium. What can I do? . What can I do

What type of file are you trying to open? Are you trying to watch a movie, open a document that was written on an older computer, or some other file?

If the software that should open the file is on your computer but not associated with that file type, right click on the file and choose Open With > Choose default program. Then Browse through programs on your computer (Program Files and Program Files (x86) and their sub folders). Alternatively, click Start > Control Panel > Programs. Under Default Programs, select Make a file type always open in a specific program. Scroll down to the extension and add a program for it.

Many computers do not come with all the software you might want. In that case, you will need to get the software or a plug-in to add to your software. For example, a computer with a Blu-ray optical drive may not have the Blu-ray player software. Office files may have similar limits. (WordPad reads Word files; Excel and PowerPoint viewers aren't always included.)

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the file type you need to open for specific program suggestions.

Blessed michelle and was supposed to watch a documentary in my computer. as i enter the dvd the drive e dont have the files its like it cannot read the can i acces this now??thanks

Hi, Michelle.
I hope I can be of assistance today.

First, you need a dvd decoder program, that way the computer knows how to read a dvd, otherwise it will say that it id an unsupported format.
I would use VLC media player, it has all the codecs needed to play it built in to the program, that way you don't have to worry about any other software.
It's link is here:

The big download button is for all versions of windows, so it will work is you have xp, or Vista, or even windows 7.

Also, you can consider downloading a codec pack as well.
This may add some extra functionality and enhance quality over factory codecs, as well installs the codecs that windows doesn't come with.
Trust me, there are alot of codecs that windows doesn't come with.

The program for that is called K-Lite codec pack.

Here is the link for it as well:

Just scroll down the page to the first one that says "full"

Between these two programs, you should now be able to watch ANY movie, doesn't matter if it is a dvd, a downloaded video, a youtube video, a flash video, or any other kind.

I hope this helps you get your project done, good luck!

The movies come out distorted

had the same issue. the problem could possibly be:

bad disc burner
wrong disc format
or simply the quality of the program

i had this issue with power director 7.0 and i payed for upgrades and it worked fine. the quality is poor with these programs, and instead of wasting time fixing it, i would suggest investing in a pc or mac disc software for making movies. my power director came with my computer, but if you purchased yours, i would take a look at your burner or disc. overall, i think this program has poor quality, and its not worth your time. i hope this helped, and if you wish to continue using this software, look into the following problems above.

Media player doesn't work

There is a usb cable that would connect both of them together. It can be purchased at a local computer retailer just let them know that you need a cable to connect both your notebook and desktop together to transfer some files. There is also another method using an 10/100 ethernet cable and set up a network to transfer your files.

My ACER cd/dvd scb265 combo doesn't read some DVD data disk

Windows Vista by default burns "Live File System" It picks if its Live or not when you are "Preparing the blank disc" this is when it asks you what to you want to title the disc. The problem with Live discs is they don't work on any operating system that came before Windows XP and they don't work on Windows XP if it doesn't have service pack 3. Because of this, you want to burn your CD/DVD as a "Mastered" disc. These are compatible with all operating systems, but any files are permanent *unless you are using CD/RW or DVD/RW, DVD/RAM.

If this was not your problem, please leave a comment and I will get back to you and try to fix your problem =)

You may have installed a program for the cloning that has "commandeered" your drive. Try doing a System Restore to a date prior to cloning the DVD. You can also try uninstalling any programs like MagicISO or Alcohol and then re-installing your normal burning software. You can also try Uninstalling or disabling your drive and re-booting, forcing a driver reload.
