Question about Heating & Cooling

No Power to Duo-Term Thermastat

Over the winter I keep my heater on 45 to keep things from freezing. Sometime about the end of winter i went out and everything was working fine. However, a month ago I went out to the 5th wheel to check everything to make sure the AC worked because we were going to go to the lake for the weekend. There was no power to the thermastat. I had ran out of propane and I filled the bottles. I rechecked the thermastat and still no power. Thought there might be a reset button on the heater and checked for a reset button, but, that did not work. Checked all fuses. Checked all breakers. Took RV to a certified repair place and he checked fuses, breakers, tried new thermastat, new phone wire from the thermastat to the module in the roof of the AC, replaced the entire module in the AC unit. Still no power, He called the Dometic (Duo therm techs and they told him it was bad wire. It wasn't, Still no power to Thermastat. He said he could not fix it. Need to take it somewhere else. There is not another service area within 75 miles of my location. Any suggestions on where to look?

Can you give me model #'s of thermostat & AC unit, as well as upper unit? Number of or at least a description of thermostat, and numbers for ceiling assy should be visible when filter taken off, as well as # for upper unit should be tagged on bottom of unit on roof.

FRIDGE DOES NOT KEEP COLD AND FREEZER OVER FREEZES? NOT FIND THE MANUAL PLEASE HELP. THERMASTAT? WHERE IS IT? WANNABEHERD@OUTLOOK.COM

Don't understand 'over freezes'. If, by that, you mean that frost is forming on the walls and/or bottom of the freezer section while the refrigerated section does not maintain temperature, odds are that your fan in the freezer is not spinning. This is usually caused by one or more of three different things: 1) motor failed 2) defrost heater/safety/clock failed or 3) drain from freezer is plugged and ice is building up over the fan.

My fridge keeps freezing up , is it the thermastat ??

could be the thermostat or the fan not blowing or the heater try checking tstat and heater for continuity with unit unpluged if both of these are fine then you would look at the defrost timer

What is the best way to leave a garage heater that will not be used for several days?Gas valve on position, pilot lit, main AC power off ?

Keep the pilot on, it really should not use much gas and are pains to relight sometimes. If you don't have to worry about things freezing, just turn the gas valve to the pilot setting. If freezing is an issue, turn down thermostat to 45 degrees.

Freezer doesn't freeze in winter?

Domestic refrigerators nowadays are designed not to operate at temperatures less than 45 degrees. First, if it's 45 degrees in the house, people probably are not living there. 2nd, 45 degrees keeps food refrigerated. 3, if people are not living in a space, then they don't need to keep frozen food.

This is a result of the changes in refrigerants we've been going through since 1992.
If you want an outdoor freezer, buy one, and make sure it's designed to be used in a non conditioned space.

How does heater work to keep freeze off pool in winter

What state do you live in, what is the brand name and model number of the heater. If you live in a state that gets cold during the winter, call you local pool store and schedule a closing. If the pump is running and water is not circulating, most likely the pump lost prime or your filter needs to be backwashed, or there is some debris in the impeller.

Backup for Propane Heater!

Should not be a problem if it is only a very short power outage, anything of any duration and it will run out of power.
