Hello junebugmeza,

Getting repairs on Alpine products depends on where you are located. In the US, you may be required to ship it back to Alpine or to an authorized service center.

To obtain service, follow the procedures for "out of warranty" service here. Scroll down the page and use the drop-down box to select your location. Then call the toll-free number provided for the service center.

Hope this helps.

My subwoofer distorts/rattles. the amp isnt the problem and the wiring was done correctly. maybe the sub is blown? can anyone help me? does anyone know how to fix it? if so can the walk me through it or...

If it distorts and rattles, chances are high that the woofer has blown, which usually means the wiring around the cone overheated or the cone itself hyper-extended. In either case, it would have caused irrepairable damage.

To my knowledge, it cannot be repaired. In this case, I hope I'm wrong...

Best of luck!

Can a kicker cvr be fixed if it is blown if so how

Speaker lesson here. For space and time, I'll not get into certain nomenclature. Working from top to bottom, you have the cone, rubber surround, basket, spider, voic coil former, voice coil, and the magnet. The binding posts are connected to the tensil leads which connect to the spider and the voice coil. As the woofer is positively + and negatively - charged, it creates a magnetic field which moves the woofer up and down. There is a small gap between the magnet and the voice coil and former that's called a magnetic gap. This gap is what helps the speaker to move up and down, and creates the Xmax. The Xmax of the woofer is the maximum linear excursion the woofer can travel without causing permanent damage. With a blown speaker, normally the voice coil and voice coil former have been pushed out of the correct magnetic gap, usually around the top of the magnet. That means that the only way to fix it is to take the woofer completely apart. My suggestion is to just go and spend the money. A blown speaker is a sign of abuse, and voids warranties from the majority of companies out there to include Kicker.

Only one coil works

The other is blown. If it is no longer in warranty, it cannot be repaired or fixed.
You can play still using only one coil at 1/2 the power rating.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

I have a 2002 Yukon XL and the subwoofer is blown. How do you remove the trim panels to access the speaker and is the amp intergrated into the radio or separate? Also does it have to be a factory...

Well, see your issue will be taking the trim out. The most of it has brackets that snap together and the amp that powers that subwoofer is very small. it will also be a single voice coil subwoofer and either an 8 or a 10. Need to find a very small rms subwoofer like a kicker comp. also a shallow enough subwoofer to fit in the space. the lower the rms of the new sub the more likely it will be shallower. you're probly gonna be wanting to look for a sub that is like 150 rms and no more to be powered adequately.

I have 2 AW1206T's how do you know when their blown?

when a sub is blown it usually makes a scratcy or grinding noise if you push the sub in but if its blow it realy wont make much of a sound so it sounds like your voice coil is going out you will want to get this looked at quick or it can get expensive...i had one were it was cheaper to buy a new sub rather than fix it. it can also just be it disorting from too much power. i would never go over the power limit when dealing with 3000 watts, that can get realy expensive quick
