The elna 7000 is an electronic machine. I can select the differnt stiches etc, but it only stich forward and does not stich the selected stich. It stiches very slow, but not the selected stich, and only forward not backwards. Could it be due to not enough oil, as i did not use the machine for quite some time and did not oil it before use?
Looks like this is a mechanical machine. If so, bet it needs a good cleaning and oiling. The following may be helpful:

Definitely get some good quality sewing machine oil. Sounds like the machine has basically seized, including the stitch selectors.

If you bend over the front of the machine, you will see a slider switch on the back of the machine, and there is a small "button" at the bottom right of the switch (your right). If you push this button down, you can slide the slider switch to your right and the feed dogs will go up.

Unthread the needles, rethread the loopers properly, then rethread the needles. Make sure that all four threads are pulled securely into the tensions and retry.
The loopers must always be threaded before the needles or it will not chain.
