Shredder is jammed from a flexible plastic sheet. How to fix?

I'm having the same problem with my Ativa HS 1000 shredder. I disassembled it, cleaned it, and cleaned the sheet sensor. It still only shreds 1/2 sheet of paper and stops. Then I have to reverse it out, etc. I regularly oil the machine and in the past it did work for several years just fine, but this 1/2 sheet thing started recently and I'm also searching for a solution. I hope someone has an answer to our mutual problem.

If your shredder is jamed with paper, the centre of your machine has a switch which is plastic. If there is paper under this switch it will prevent it from being pushed downward, it will not shred paper, it will only work in reverse. Unplug your machine and clear the paper jam so the little plastic switch will be able to go down and it should work. Hope this works for you.

Open it up and see if any of the plastic drive gears are damaged...for parts assistance give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799.

When you unplug the shredder and take the top off, pull any jammed sheet through. Empty the receptacle. Then try putting the top back on and plug in and test it.

there are what is called strippers that ride in between the teeth to keep paper from building up. they are plastic and can break after awhile. sounds like you have some of the stripper combs broken.
