I have a Haier 32D300b flat screen TV that acts dead. However (please read 'details' below)...
However when I disconnect the cable from the power board to the T-con board, the red light comes on the front (just like it should) and the screen lights up when I push the power button.
Then, when I connect the t-Con cable, the TV works perfectly.
When I unplug the power cord and plug it back in, I'm back to where it started showing no signs of life.
Do you think I need to replace the power board or the T-con board(or any parts you would recommend replacing)?

Main board fault. Almost all Haier LCD models will have the similar main board. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Common issues are no power reaching set, fuse in set bad, power supply to the set (inside). But if set 12 years old parts may no longer be available.......maybe too old to be a good repair?
Ur tv buffer boards are dead, the X or Z is dead.Could be also both boards are dead too.Yes,this tv should be cover under ur extended warrenty,if it still under in effect, read ur contract years end date.
COULD BE A POWER SUPPLY RELATED PROBLEM. FLAT PANEL LCD TVS HAVE POWER SUPPLY FAILURES MOST COMMONLY. COULD BE VENTED CAPACITORS ON THE POWER BOARD OR EVEN CRACKED SOLDER CONNECTIONS.
Pretty simple TVs have two boards in them , power board and mainboard. Usually they have bad power boards.
Or just bad capacitors on the power board.
The boards cost about $75-$125 each, tech labor $150
Good TVs easy to fix, but paying a tech may cost more than a new set.

Is your unit set to the correct input source?
Check the connections to the source.
What is the input source? cable, satellite TV, over-air?
Have you tried another source like a DVD input?
seriously its a difficult problem, well sometimes the system control needs a heat-up by resoldering it. or caused by the flyback and the horizontal transistor. reply me if the problem persist. ^.^
