I have an older Troy-Bilt Pony Garden Tiller witha

I have an older Troy-Bilt Pony Garden Tiller with a 5HP Briggs and Stratton engine. I can't find a model or serial number anywhere on the engine. The threads in the female portion of the assembly wore out and it had to be disassembled and rethreaded. How does one put the spring pull assembly on the drive shaft? The cord and spring assembly thread onto the shaft.

From what I read you need a new rewind clutch and the spring and cord go into the housing. Briggs is easy to fix. contact me at kerryjonjon@yahoo.com and I can send you what you need or you can send it to me and I will repair it very cheap!! Parts are available at almost any small engine parts place.

Head bolts are probably loose, check the 3 nearest the mouffler and of course check all of them.

Gas tank leak

The gas tank would go with the engine. Find the engine number (Briggs & Stratton?, Kohler? ) You can order it online from Briggs & Stratton parts, or like Jack's small engine, or your local mower parts supply. Common poblem with these plastic tanks.

I have a older troy don't know model number i need a carb kit

You probley have a briggs & stratton engine. If so, look for the engine model number which will be on the cover. You will need model number and type number. Your carberator will be part of the engine specs. Then you can go online to

mtd/parts

and find the kit you need or take model and type numbers to your local lawn mower dealer and they will either have it in stock or order it for you. Cost is around 15 bucks.

Tilller will not run

Get the model # and serial # off of the sticker. Got to the Troy Bilt site and use the owners manual link. Need to leave off the last 3 numbers of the model #.

If that site does not have the manual, I've found them on the MTD site. I enter only the first 2 numbers of the model # and then hunt for my manual from the list.

If all else fails, you can call Troy Bilt at their # provided on the site.

Hope this helps.
