Heater tried re-lightening 3 times but didn't stay lit, what can be wrong, I hav no hot water, heat or gas

Sounds like you need a new ignitor
They do burn out every so often and without them there will be no heat or gas flow as this controls when the gas kicks on.

Pilot wont stay lit on waterheater. I replaced Thermocouple and that did not fix it. It will stay lit on vacation setting.

Most gas water heater problems can be fixed with yearly service that cleans burner and burner parts, checks gas pressure and bleeds air out of gas line, cleans air intake, and checks for venting and air intake problems.

Pilot liht wont stay lit on hot water heater.

You will need a new thermo coupler to keeep the pilot ight on. It is a probe that touches the pilot flame to sense the the regulator to feed the gas flow. Upon failing it shuts off the gas to the regulator so the unit does not catch on fire. In other words it is a fail safe part that is required

The water heater pilot will not stay lit. I've had to re-light it 3 times in the last 4 days.

There should be a place to adjust the poilot light gas flow with a screw driver (turn the screw out more gas to pilot and it will stay lit". It hopfully tells you where the screw is in your manual assuming you have one. look aroung the pilot for a very small screw below the place where the flame comes out.

Burner on new Whirlpool gass water heater will not stay lit

One of the proper ways to light a gas water heater, is to turn the black knob to Pilot, put a match to the end of the pilot light, while holding the match there, push the red reset button down and hold the match & the reset button down for one full minute. Then, release the reset button and turn the black knob to On. This should keep the pilot light on.
