If it actually goes on and finishes the cycle and that really bothers you replace it. If not leave it alone and allow a little more time to complete its cycle. The lid switch only keeps the spin cycle from going with the top open.

Have you checked the lid safety switch? Even if it doesn't spin, the cycle timer will continue.

my washing machine seems to get through the was cycle with no problems but stops when it gets to the drain or spin cycle. Just continues to beep.

HI, i would try a hard reset in this case. unplug the unit for five minutes. this will reset the logic sectors. if this no spin issue continues, replace the motor control board.

If the timer gets to the rinse cycle and stops,
Check the lid switch for continuity. If no continuity replace the lid switch.
If the timer continues through rinse and spin without doing either, replace the timer.

Out of balance switch could be faulty/ coroded.
have a gw 709 and it had the same problem, out of balance switch had jammed on

check hub nut, it is likely loose, its under the agitator. top pops off agitator and bolt hold agitator down.
