When I was replacing the light bulb the light bulb sparked and I unfortunately did not unplug the microwave before doing so. I replaced the light bulb and it does not light up. I tried another light bulb to no avial. When I hit the light button, it does beep and I can hear a clicking noise but no light. I don't see a fuse. What do I need to do to fix this problem

Re: Cook Top Light
We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

I assume you're talking about the light that is inside the microwave & not the cook top light. Unplug unit. Normally your microwave will have a plastic or metal panel on the top front or back of the unit. (The bulb is not always changed from the inside of the unit.) Simply remove the few screws that hold the panel on & remove it. This should give you simple access to the bad bulb. Replace bulb then reassemble. Some free standing units require the entire outside enclosure be removed.
To replace the bulb you will need to first remove the top grille.
- Unplug the power cord, it is usually in the cabinet above the
- Remove the upper grill, if you stand on a stool and look at the top
you will see 4 screws going down into the grill, take those out and
carefully pull the top of the grille forward then up and off, it is
easier if you do this with the door open.
- In the very front center of the opening you will see a small black
cover (about the size of a playing card), remove the cover and you will
see the bulb.
- Match it up at your favorite retailer and enjoy watching your food
I understand that you want to know how to remove the cover on your Frigidaire microwave, model# FGMV205K. There are two different covers that you are able to remove for access to two different light bulbs.
If you are trying to change the Microwave Oven Light for inside your microwave:
1)To replace light bulb, first disconnect power to your microwave oven at the circuit breaker panel or by unplugging it.
2)Remove the louver by removing the three Hood Louver Screws.
3)Push in the upper tabs and pull the louver away from your appliance.
4)Remove the light bulb and replace with a new 20 watt light bulb. DO NOT USE BULB LARGER THAN 20 WATTS.
5)Close the Oven Light Cover by carefully pushing into place. Push the louver back into place (engaging both the bottom and top tabs) and change to hood Louver Screws.
If you are trying to change the light bulbs underneath your Microwave:
1)To replace light bulbs, first disconnect power to your microwave oven at the circuit breaker panel or by unplugging it.
2)To open Light Cover, remove the screw on the light cover.
3)Replace the light bulbs with new 20 watt light bulbs. DO NOT USE BULBS LARGER THAN 20 WATTS.
4)Close the Light Cover and secure with screw removed at step 2.
If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please let me know the error codes displayed on your appliance. Hope this is helpful.
In this case, you have to check the control panel. There might be wire connections and contacts that loosens. The bulbs inside the oven is connected to a switch that that only functions once the oven is in closed position.
