SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold microwave doesn't heat

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount (which are pretty simple problems to fix) or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There may also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

SOURCE: whirlpool gold microwave gt4175sps - problem: will

Hi,

It sounds like there may be a diode or relay on the control that has failed. This could cause both symptoms you are explaining here. In either case the control board/keymembrane would need replaced. The cost of these would be about $173.00 for parts. Unfortunatly this repair would most likely cost more than the value of the product. Sorry for the bad news.

SOURCE: microwave runs but does not

Not heating is a problem that can be caused by three things.I'll list the most common solution first, the magnetron that actually does theheating has gone bad. It is possible for you to also have a bad high voltagediode that has opened up, solution two, or solution three is the high voltagecapacitor is not working properly as well. But mostprobably it is your magnetron that is bad. If you are not do it yourselferyou'll need to take it to a repair shop to replace. However, if you know how touse a screwdriver and can unplug a couple of wires with spade terminals onthem, then you can take it off yourself, find another one and replace it thesame way you took it off. The magnetron sits behind the control panel of yourmicrowave but on top. It has cooling fins on it and has 2 terminals maybe threedepending and make and model that plug into it. It has 4 screws that are easyto get to that actually hold it in place. If you do not have a good localsource like an electronic parts supply place then you can find the rightmagnetron at www.mwoparts.com. Be sureyou always unplug the microwave before touching or trying to take the heatcover off and then when you take the magnetron off also. If themicrowave appears to be working normally (i.e.: light comes on; timer countscorrecting, turntable turns) but there is no heating of the food, it could alsobe your high voltage fuse - normally 5kv 700mA or 0.7A. Check and if foundfaulty replace with same specification component.

Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

This is not a simple solution, the magnetron the heart of the system may be defective, or the inverter board, "7 years old or less" and possibily the keypad control board, you will somebody that can use test equipment.

Whirlpool Gold Accuwave wont heat

Hi, there are three issues that will cause a no heat situation in a microwave. these issue are a failed Magnetron, busted cut-off fuse and, failed diode.

I recommend checking all these area that are located inside the microwave for faults.

The most common issue will be a failed Magnetron.

The diode and, fuse will be located on the noise filter assembly.
