If you have warrenty by all means get it repaired , but if not go onto ebay buy the switch unit and Turn off the ps2 while on to discharge it , make sure you touch your hand on a metal object every 15min open up the ps2 and on the right or left should be the switch and you pull on the ribbon VERY LIGHTLY and it should pop out (cable)and you should be able to take out the switch and then replace switch and connect it .Close the console and see if it works

My sister dropped my ps2 and the power button got jammied

My power button got jammed as well and I used a small flat head screwdriver to pop it out and it was fine. If that doesn't work you might want to tack it to a video game repair shop or try to open it and see if the button broke off and is keeping the button inside the system.

The on/off switch won't turn on. i have power on (red light) switch clicks but no green light. i have taken lid off and white button seams on work but still no green light. i have even held down little...

This is one of three things. Unfortunately, it's difficult to determine which, unless you start replacing parts.

1. Bad switch. The switch doesn't usually go bad by itself, has the PS2 been dropped? Bumped? Anyone push the switch too hard? It's held in by solder on all 4 corners. If the solder becomes dislodged, the switch can fail.

2. Bad cable. This is rare unless someone opened the PS2 and removed/installed the cable a few times and frayed the internal wires.

3. Bad motherboard. Sometimes a power problem can develop, or the motherboard can short out. It's pretty rare, but I have seen it happen.

4. Bad AC adapter. Recent power surge? It's possible that the AC adapter is delivering enough voltage to power the standby light, but not enough to power the actual system on. You can easily check this by plugged your PS2 up on someone else's AC adapter or taking your AC adapter to someone else's PS2.

You can find parts at the following page:

Ps2 slimline powerbutton touchsensor broken

That PCB is pretty basic, so if you are good at soldering tiny parts, IN PRINCIPLE, you should be able to fix it. That said, you must be certain that the switch itself is working and that the PCB is OK. Use a multimeter to check connectivity and functionality. To avoid the hassle, yes, it might be a good idea to just buy a new PCB, but be sure to be careful when disconnecting and reconnecting the ribbon cable, as it is very fragile.

It wont turn on at all

The same problem occured to my slimline ps2. I opened it to find that the power switch inside had broken of. The only option is to get the switch soldiered back on or replace the tiny circuit board that has the switch.

My PS2 On/Off Button is Jammed

this site should help you get the case open.

you need to get in there and find out what's causing the button to stick. It could also be the button on the front of the drive that's stuck. if that's the case you might be able to pop it back out once you get the outer PS2 case off using a knife or a small screwdriver.

Ps2 slim will not power up

usually, there is a problem with a ribbon cable of power/reset switch. Try using a replacement ribbon of the same type.
