My Cricut Explore Air wont cut

If your Cricut machine is not cutting all the way through your material, or is only scoring the material, choose a machine below for specific troubleshooting tips. Fortunately this issue can usually be resolved with basic troubleshooting.

correct cut settings.
  • Remove the blade housing, then remove the blade and ensure that there are not any bits of paper stuck to the blade or lodged inside the blade housing. Ensure that you replace the blade housing correctly into the machine. Once clean, test your cuts again. If the blade and housing are already free from debris, or cleaning it did not help, proceed to 3.
  • Try an arm buoyancy test: gently press down on the black arms that surround the blade housing and then release them. Do they bounce right back up, or do they stick or rub in any way? If they stick or rub, please contact Customer Care through one of the options below for further assistance. If they bounce right back up when released, proceed to 4.
  • Increase the machine pressure settings and try your cuts again. If this does not change the cut result, proceed to 5.
  • Increase blade depth by turning the dial at the top of the blade housing. If this does not change the cut result, proceed to 6.
  • Perform a Hard Reset on the machine. If this does not help, proceed to 7.
  • Check your machine's firmware version. If the firmware is not up to date, perform a Firmware Update using Cricut Craft Room, a Gypsy device, or Cricut Design Studio.
  • Retry your cuts with a new blade housing.
  • If the machine is still not cutting through materials, or is only scoring the paper, please contact Customer Care through one of the options below for further assistance.
  • Forced Firmware Update on the machine through Cricut Sync.
  • Retry your cuts with a new blade housing. If the issue persists, proceed to 8.
  • Attempt a Format and Restore on the machine through Cricut Sync. Please note that this step should only be taken if all other steps have failed to resolve the issue.
  • If this does not resolve the issue, please contact Customer Care through one of the options below for assistance.
  • new blade. If this does not help, proceed to 5.
  • Adjust/increase the Multi-Cut setting in the Cricut Craft Room cut preview screen and retry your cuts. If this does not change the cut result, proceed to 6.
  • Retry a cut using a new blade housing.
  • If the machine is still only scoring or not cutting through the material, please contact Customer Care through one of the options below for assistance.

Clippers have suddenly stopped cutting and seem to pull at the hair

Generally removing the two screws.. on the blade foot (don't do this over the sink unless the drain is closed!).. and taking the blade apart.. cleaning the trimmers with a small brush.. apply grease in the blade groove.. reassemble

Usually it's best to put those two screws back just get them in lose.. not quite snug..set the blade upside down on a flat surface..so it pushes the blade back away from the cutting end..level..then tighten those screws while you are pushing or holding down on the clippers cutting edge against the flat surface/table. ... oil the blade with the proper oil or a light mineral oil.

This usually will get them back to cutting properly..the blade should be oiled prior to each use...about two to three drops right along the visible part..or a light spray also hair should be clean.. dirty hair does not cut well at all..and the clippers will tug and pull rather than cut cleanly.

Lastly..if they see a lot of use. might be blade replacement time..

    Best of luck!

I used the clippers to cut my dog... once finished I took it apart to clean out excess lubed parts and reassembled...I have done this many times before with no problems... I begin cutting and the blades...

Check your blade latch is working properly. If you took your clipper apart and your blades are not cutting it is one of 2 things. Your blade drive is not assembled properly or your blade latch is not holding the blade on the clipper. If you took your blade apart, check the blade alignment. The cutter blade needs to be slightly behind the comb blade.

Blade comes off wheel on horizontal saw have a wilton 7040 horizontal saw. after cutting about 1/2 thrru a piece of metal the blade sticks and then stars comming off the right wheel and starts cutting into...

if its a new blade, make sure that it is the proper length for the saw, sometimes aftermarket blades look like they are the right size but the difference of a few mm can cause the blade to track. if its an old blade, it could just be dull enough that it is binding on the material you are cutting and this draws the blade off the wheels. even if the blade isnt that old or seems sharp, if you have a brand new blade handy that would be the easiest thing to try.

your manual will have instructions on how to adjust the blade guide bearings. if this is a new saw, it SHOULD be set properly and be working from the factory but they may still need to be adjusted. an older saw obviously may have shifted a bit from normal usage. if you dont have a manual one can be downloaded from the wilton tools website.

before adjusting the guides, though, check to see that the bearings spin freely. if they do not spin smoothly with minimum pressure, they need to be replaced. they also should be replaced if they spin VERY freely because this is also an indication that they are pretty worn and may actually be binding up under pressure.

Right blade will not cut well, acts as if blade is dull. Replaced blade, deck belt, and spindle housing assy. does this in tall or short grass.

if everything seems free, check to make sure deck is level. check for damaged or blockage under deck on the side thats not cutting proper.

After reassembly blade will not cut wood, does not maintain suffient tension despite being correctly inserted

It sounds like the blade is not going through the guides properly if the blade is being pushed away from the wood.

Your blade is facing and moving the right direction, I am assuming.

    Serger blades do not cut.

For now, it works only satisfactorily:
I applied alcohol to further clean both blades,
    dried and then oiled them. There seemed to be a slight gap between blades;
the fabric was dragged into the gap instead of being cut.
