I had the black & white dots on my 46" HLS4676S..Replaced the DMD chip..Plugged it in and the indicator lights then said I had a bad bulb...Installed a new bulb and the same thing happened. Turns itself on and off 3 times (no picture) and then the indicator lights flash, indicating I need a new bulb..Any ideas..Please.

Make sure you have firmly seated the new Lamp. The next step is to go to the rear of the set and put your ear next to the Lamp Door while turning "ON" the tv with your tv remote.
You should hear a short buzzing sound. That is the Ballast "Exciter" firing up to light the Lamp. If you do not hear this buzzing then you probably have a bad Ballast. Ballast part# is BP47-00037A

White dots all over the screen

call samsung. there are aware of this issue with several of their dlp sets. To avoid a class action lawsuit, they've extended the warranty of several models to cover the very issue. give samsung a call and see if you model is covered. i just got my 46" repaired at no cost and without a warranty.

Had one last week and now there are 6. they are

Hi,

You get white spots inside the samsung DLP tv due to bad Digital Micromiror Device , or bad DMD board .

What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color
This is well know problem with SAMSUNG DLP...

The DMD chip is failing. If not under warranty expect to pay a few hundred to several hundred to get it fixed

The mirrors on the DLP chip are slowly sticking either fully open (white) or fully closed (black). The part that contains the DLP chip is the Light Engine. It is the most expensive part of the TV.Only the Samsung TVs has this issue.

Replacing the DLP chip and the micro mirror would solve this issue...

Samsung dlp tv hl-s4266w has white spots on it? How much to fix?

Are they spots or dots? If they are spots then the optics are contaminates. If they are dots either white or black then you have a bad DMD chip. The cost of repair depends on who you hire to repair the set or if you do it yourself it depands who you purcahse the part from.

Mirrors going bad. White and black spots are apperaing on my screen. More each day. It is my understanding that tiny mirrors are not turning off or on. Purchased DLP 46'' Samsung January 2007

Well here's the scoop. White spots mean that the mirrors are stuck "on" reflecting light. Black spots mean that other mirrors are not actuating and are not reflecting light. In any case the DMD bs or the DMD chip needs to be replaced by a trained Samsung tech only.
The DMD bd controls the DMD chip.

I have been told it is the DMD Chip that has went bad. I also have same white dots on my tv. right now I have 10 of them in different places. They are about $153 dollars and then someone to install is around $125. If you figure out how to replace the DMD Chip can you please email me and let me know how at lphillips1202@hotmail.com
