We have tried to get our Wii remotes to work. Their lights flash a couple of slight seconds then it stops. We can get to the channel menu however,.... The hand does not show up, and after a while it falls asleep! We have tried waking it up with the nunchuck,we rebooted our wii system,we shut down then restarted all systems, and we even pushed all the buttons!
Can any expert help us? Any help to our predicament is appreciated. If anyone knows how to solve this dilema please, help us!!!!!
If you have a solution thank you!!!
Switch the batteries and then hold down the red button on the Wii and press 1 and 2. If that doesn't work try other Wii remotes. If those work get some new Wii remotes and if not then have your Wii checked
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Make sure you have fresh batteries in it. the little red button under the battery cover is the sync button. Push it and you should see the 4 blue lights flash on the remote. Push the sync button on the Wii (red button under the front flap) and wait a few seconds. The remote light should stop flashing and one of the lights should light, indicating which remote it is (1-4) Repeat as necessary or change the order of button pushing if it doesn't work the second time.
You need to sync the remotes to the console.Open the large door on the front of the console.Open the battery cover on the remotes.Point the remote at the sensor bar and hold the red button inside the remote while holding down the red button in the front of the console.Hold them for a couple seconds.Do the same for the other remote(s).It may take a couple tries but they will sync.
Good luck and game on!
Had the same problem last night.... Turn off the wii system by unplugging , wait a couple of seconds and plug back in. Next, the front of the wii has a pocket that opens, there is a red button. Put the disc to mario kart in the wii once you see the federal regs push and hold the red button on the wii for 15 seconds then once this 15 seconds is up with the controllers battery case open push the red button to the original controller. All of lights will flash and then stop. Push the red button on the wii console again just once. Then push the red button on the second remote wait till all lights stop flashing push the red button on the console and now they should be married to the wii system. Hope this helps----do you know how to get the volume? We don't have any volume
Well, pressing 1 and 2 doesn't work if your Wii remote came desynched. Press the Red Synch buttons on both the Wii console (located under the SD card flap) and the one on the back of the Wii remote, and hold one then the other for about 5 seconds. Should help.
Have you tried the following? If this doesn't work then pleae provide details on details such as the batterys you are using, number of remotes, etc. The Wii maunual does not give clear instructions how to reset and sync your Wii remotes. I have found that from time to time my remotes will not sync, especially after they have changed 'order' a couple of times. It appears there is a bug in the code that keeps track of remote codes, and it has a limited buffer for the storage of remote ID's / order. Here are quick step by step instructions how to reset the remote list on the Wii console and re-sync your Wii remotes.
Un-plug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes (60 seconds should do, but leave it off longer to ensure all the power drains).
Plug the Wii back in, and turn on the power button.
Open the panel on the front of the Wii unit. You will see a Red button.
Open the back panel of the Wii remote where the batteries are installed. Beneath the batteries is a small button.
Press and release the small button. The Blue lights on the front of the remote begin to flash.
Press the Red button on the front of the Wii unit.
The Blue lights on the remote should stop flashing after a few seconds. Then one Blue light will remain representing player 1.
This happened to my son. I did some reading and found out you have to resynchronize the remote. This is from the manual
1) Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.
2)Remove th battery cover on the back of the remote and press the SYNC. button inside the cover. The Player LEDs will blink.
3)Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console and press the SYNC button on the inside of the compartment
4)When the Player LED blinking stops, connection is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number.
This procedure must be followed for each additional Wii remote added to your system.
