Can screens be taken out of a Whirlpool top loading HE washer....or could it be another reason?

Our washer will go through the cycles to rinse, then go BACK to wash. What could cause this? We thought it might be due to the inlet screens being clogged since we have sandy well water. However, we couldn't figure out how to take the screens out. Is this possible? I have had to do just a drain and spin cycle a few times, so I know it can do it. Just can't figure out why it won't finish everything at once...or how to get the screens out. Please help. Only had the washer for about 2 months so it's brand new.

Hi,

Screen are to protect the valve from dirt and sand, you can clean the screens at the inlet to the washer but not advisable to remove them. If this is an ongoing issue you can call you dealer and ask for another set of screens to clean out at the hose connection to the wall, it could be easier to clean in the future. You can also call you local plumber for advise on how to prevent this from happening. Good Luck

Is the hot water turned on. Remove hose from washer and check screen in water inlet. If it is clear you may need a new water inlet valve.

Whirlpool washer will not stop at end of cycle

Turn off extra rinse switch or pull wire going to it. If water is slow the water valve may have a restriction in it. Remove hoses and check for blockage in the hose screens.

Whirlpool Top Loading Washer not filling when set on hot only

check the water inlet valve assembly. Also, this could be a timer issue as well. check the Hot valve block connector on the control panel board. it could be lose or separated or broken. there is a wire that leads to the valve on the hot side as well. check this.

Whirlpool Washer - Imperial Series Quiet Wash 2

your washers drain hose is too far down the drain pipe which is causing a siphoning action pull the washers drain hose out pipe some you should be able to hear water dropping into the pipe the reason it only happens in the rinse cycle is because the water from wash is being drained and before the water vacuum is broken the rinse water comes in causing it to keep draining
